If I can impose....

To all ya'll wonderful people out there, pregnant and TTC...ya'll say a little prayer for a friend of mine.  Her name is Lorie and she also had cancer during her pregnancy.  She was 26 weeks when they found hers.  Her baby Zach was born at 36 weeks and is doing well.  She completed her chemo and had a mastectomy just before Thanksgiving.  She started radiation 3 weeks ago and they found another spot of cancer and they have also found out it has matastised into her lung.  She is now stage IV.

She will be going to MD Anderson for further treatments next month.  She also has a toddler, Noah, who is about 15 months.

Please keep her and the babies in your prayers.  She, like ya'll and me, has waited and wanted babies for so long and now she has them only to be faced with this major challenge.

Thank ya'll,
Lisa

Just wanted to post an update on Lorie and thank ya'll for keeping her in your prayers.

She is currently on treatment 5 of 8 at Houston's MD Anderson.  UAB couldn't get her into their infusion schedule quick enough, so she is travelling from B'ham to Houston weekly for treatments.  It was a rough start without her port, she had to go to Mobile to get an emergency surgery done for that.  She has really small veins.

She's still managing to make it to work 3 of the 5 days most weeks.  She is amazing and is holding up very well.  Hopefully once these treatments are complete, she can resume normal life with her two beautiful baby boys.  She has a site out on Caringbridge.com that details her prognosis and treatments.... I think this will get you there:

Thank you for your prayers and continued prayers that she overcomes this terrible trial.

I guess you went on her website.  Thanks for sending that quote to me today.  I actually needed it for myself.  My partner and I have been TTC for over a year and just went through the second IVF.  Will find out today that we are most likely not pregnant yet again.  Strike 8.  Dr. DuPree's quote helped and you are right - it does sum it all up.

I like this:

Life's destinations are subject to changes, stay present in the moment and remember that it is truly all about the journey.
-Beth B. DuPree, M.D.

That just about sums it up.  THANKS!
