I definately wouldn't worry... The info provided to you by your dr indicates a small margin of error. Do what your heart tells you. If you are going to worry about it and you think a secondary test will put your mind at ease. If you are good with the results as they have been explained then enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and all the beautiful things to come.
Had it done today and the neck measurement was fine with no other problems either... But they still said there is a risk because of my age they want me to go for genetic counseling but the Dr said its 98% that everything is fine its only due to my age..deciding if it is worth the worry...
I did the nuchal trans. It was fine. I also did the blood test where they test for abnormalities and they also can tell you if you are having a girl or boy. They can tell through the blood test that chromosomes are normal. I read about so many women freaking out over a higher than normal percentage of something happening and the baby was completely fine.
I was 38 when I was pregnant with my now 7 month old. I had the nuchal test done and it is just a ultrasound. I think blood was drawn as well. Mine came back normal. If I had been offered the harmony test I would have done it because I worried my entire pregnancy of possible problems. I had a completey healthy baby boy that has hit every milestone! The nuchal just tells u if u are at a higher risk of having problems.Looking back I wish I could have relaxed about my pregnancy a bit more. It was my first pregnancy and quite a surprise! :-)
Agreed with Evercheer1 I did it through the blood test due to our age it was covered by Insurance. Less evasive and more accurate see if that option is available to you and keep in mind those test have flaws so don't let them get you worked up over a "possibility".
I am not sure on that one. I am 39 and 9 weeks pregnant. Next week I am going for the Harmony test which through a simple blood test from me, thebabies cells are identified and chromosomal testing will be performed. This test screens for all the major genetic abnormalities and is safer than amnio fluid or avili testing and more accurate than the previously mentioned and the nuchal fold measurement for physical abnormalities from what I have read. See if either this is the same thing you are having or a better option available to you. My understanding is that the results come back quickly and have less than a 2% error rate which means peace of mind.
Its normal its just to check for signs of down syndrome. im only 18 and I had it done with both my babys.
