i took baby asprin but not untill a certain week i think. i was reading the other day about the use of asprin and ibuprofen early in pg can lead to mc. i hope you get your bfp soon!
Progesterone taken after a BFP is fine for those taking infertility drugs such as clomid. Clomid is supposed to up the progesterone in your system and taking progesterone after a pos test just continues the process.

Hi!
I find this whole progesterone supplement thing so bloody confusing!! Everything you read on the internet seems to conflict. I was placed on it by my ob/gyn because he could not find the corpus luteum on my ovary at my 7 week scan. He said that indicated that there was a good chance I wasn't producing sufficient progesterone to support the pregancy. He prescribed Cyclogest, 400 mg suppositories nightly. They are yucky - they leak the next day and it is not pretty! However, he said that vaginal suppositories are the most effective as they don't have to be metabolised by the body before going where they are supposed to.
I have read that a progesterone supplement prescribed after a positive pregnancy test is too late. That it should be done from ovulation I think.
At any rate, I didn't want to take the supplement until I had bloodwork done to confirm if it was actually low. However, as I said I live overseas and things are excruciatingly slow and inefficient here - so I had the bloodwork done but it took a week to get the result!! How frustrating. I did the blood test after taking just one supplement so it should not have skewed the result too much - and they came back with an impossibly high level of 84 ng/ml. I am really confused and am actualy worried my GP has misinterpreted the numbers - it if is actually on 8.4 then that is a totally different picture!
Going to see doc today so will ask. But this wasn't supposed to me about me!!! To answer your question - my learned opinion (ha) is that you shoudl ask for a suppository rather than a pill, and should confirm from your ob/gyn if it is better to wait or start now. I was also never told about the aspirin thing either. But from what I remember, only Tylenol is proven safe in pregnancy not aspirin so, although I understand the reason for prescribing it, I am leary.
Good luck to you!!!!
Im on Clomid 100mg and I went to the doctor Friday ( day 13 ) of my cycle. He done a ultrasound and said that we ovulated. I have had 2 m/c one in June 08 and also in July 08. He gave has put me on Prometrium and im to start taking it this wednesday that will be day ( 18 ) of my cycle....I havent taken a preg test yet its to early for that...all though i have been really tired in the last 4 days and my breast are really tender and have been since Friday so im keeping my fingers crossed....he has also put me on the baby asprin also...my Prometrium is the oral version...will keep you all informed and good luck to you all.......Heather
My friend had the same issues as you and she took prometrium (progesterone) and baby aspirin and it worked. They couldn't figure out what her issue was. In her mind she was thinking both m/c were boys and something was up with the boys. Whose to say but the pills worked for her.
Amanda - I don't know conclusively the answers to your questions but thought I'd just add that I hope you get your BFP quickly!! We gotta tell that little bean to stick HARD for his mommy! - jen
Thanks for all the comments and opinions. I think, based on all I have read here, I will wait till BFP to start prometrium and I think I will try the baby asprin as well. I have had a tonne of bloodwork, but they said all was "normal". Other than that, no info really. But it sounds like it can't hurt anything, so what the heck. Thanks all, and thanks Kelly for the extra prayers todayj, you have no idea how much that means to me.. Debbie, just sent you an email (have sent a couple), and I think they aren't getting through as you always email me back. Let me know if you got this one.
Love you all, and thanks again. Amanda
I went through ivf and started progesterone injections when I started my 2ww. But with ivf I had no corpus luteum to produce progesterone to begin with. So, I guess it will not hurt you but I am not sure whether it is necessary.
Also, after 4 m/c did your ob/RE suggested some blood testing to see whether you actually need baby aspirin? You can test for clotting disorders that can potentially explain some m/c. After so many losses you should insist on some answers.
Good luck to you this cycle!!!
I started my progesterone right when I found out I was pregnant. Even though my progesterone was about 20 he gave it to me anyways. I have had 2m/c's. I always used to take aspirin, at least 1 BC powder a day. Only because I had headaches everyday.
Now ds is 3 1/ 2 months!! (I said a special prayer for you today in church)
You would take the 81 mg baby asprin once a day.
Hello Amanda,
It's good to see that you started to try and concieve again right away, wow that went by quick. My RE told me to start my progesterone as soon as I got a positive pregnancy test. Not sure if it would hurt or not to start it now, but I wouldn't. I started taking a baby asprin after my 1st miscarriage and you know that I had 4 miscarriages as well. So one of the two or both of them worked for me. The baby asprin won't hurt you at all in trying to concieve or once you become pregnant. I still take my baby aspring and I'm now 22 weeks.
Please keep me posted and best of luck to you and hubby. LOTS AND LOTS OF BABY DUST TO YOU!!!!!
I am on baby aspirin and Clomid. I will be on progesterone (suppository) as soon as I get a pos. hpt. The baby asprin is to increase blood flow. According to most dr.s, baby aspirin for any person (male or female) mid 30's + is a good idea. From what I understand though - suppository progesterone is better but more inconvienent. I just take one baby aspirin at night when I take my prenatals. I have had 5 m/c's so far. I am happy because my ob is very positive since I have a 7 year old little girl already. He is constantly open to new ideas and up for trying anything that "might" work since all my blood work comes back "normal". My FSH is on the upper end of normal but everything else is fine -
best wishes...
I started take progesterone suppositories at 6wks pg because my progesterone was dropping rapidly. I took it through the first trimester and my baby is now 6months old. I will never know for sure what would have happened if I hadn't started taking the progesterone, but I'm sure glad I did. I had no prior history of m/c or low progesterone before that..
My RE had told me take baby asprin because my endometrium (sp?) always measured a little thin.
