I'm 42, this is my 4th baby and I've only gained about 18#, I'm 36 weeks, I gained 20 with my 1st, 30 with my 2nd and 50 with my 3rd, my 1st was a boy 8#8oz, 2nd was a girl 8#1oz and my 3rd was another boy 9#1oz, this time it's another boy and he is the size of a baby @ 37 weeks. I was in the hospital for an intestinal bacterial infection and they did tests to make sure he was OK, he weighed 5#10oz and was about 20"long, his big brother was 22 1/2"long, if this one is like his brother he'll be the same or close. As long as he's growing so well and I weighed 170# when I got pregnant and that's 20# more than I'm supposed to weigh I'm not going to worry about it, as long as I eat a good diet and take my vitamins and get plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration he'll be fine, we both will.

I will be 35 weeks tomorrow and I've gained nearly 40 pounds. I gained 50 with my first. Ignore what the app says, it's too picky.

I don't see how that is excessive. I am 26w and my app says i should have gained 16-20 already. I have only gained a pound. since Im overweight my Dr is not concerned as all tests show baby is growing perfectly. like a previous comment the average is 25-35 pounds. as you only have 5 or less weeks to go i think you are just fine.

I'm 31*4 and gained 23lbs !! I was slightly under wieght to begin w..my first preg I gained 60lbs that was excessive..lol my last two I gained 35 and 38 lbs, I figure that I'll prob gain another 10 or so more by 40 weeks! My doctor said she didn't want me to gain more then 5lbs more ..that was two weeks ago...yea right ! I guess she concerned because I have gestational diabetes but..I read online the average women will gain 11lbs in the last trimester.I think ur fine and wouldn't worry too much about ur wieght gain

I deleted that MedHelp app this am.  I think the range is completely off base and unreasonable.  I am 20 weeks and it says I should have only gained 8-10 pounds.  I eat a healthy diet and have gained more than that.  I have read that after a certain week, an average 1 pound a week is fine, though I haven't even gained that much.  I decided to depete the app and not worry about it.  If my midwife is concerned, I expect we will discuss it, but so far, no complaints from her and I feel great!  I will worry about my weight after my little bambino is here.  Breastfeeding should help. ;-)

My weight has always fluctuated during my pregnancies.  I was under weight to start with my first two.  This is number 4 and at 36 and 6 I have gained 20 lbs .  what does your doctor say about your weight gain?  I wouldn't worry about some app telling you its excessive, ask the doc before you worry.

Seriously?  I cant believe it says your gain is excessive.  The recomended gain is 25-35 lbs, you only have 5 weeks, your not going to gain 15 lbs in that time.  Im 35 weeks too, and Ive gained almost 50 lbs :( im quite depressed about it really.  Its 10 more then i gained with my others and Im not even done.

That is not excessive for 35 weeks. I gained around 35 lbs by the time I had my last baby who is 4 mos old. But my first pregnancy I only gained 22 lbs the whole pregnancy. I have had 10 children and never gained more than 35 lbs while pregnant.
