weight question

So I m 36 and pregnant with my first child due May 5th. I have gained about 17 pounds and this app keeps telling me its very excessive, but my girlfriend who is the same age as me just gave birth 3 weeks ago and said she gained 40 pounds during her pregnancy, and she has already lost 30 of it.  So my question is should I really be worrying about  gaining all this weight or should I just relax and enjoy my pregnancy?

doctors say normal weight gain should be 25-35 lbs and more than that is bad for your health or something like that.

My sister in law always gained about 50 pounds in her pregnancies. Her and babies were always fine. That being said, the farther along you are the quicker you gain weight. I think the app is just saying that it is excessive because you are only around 17 weeks pregnant. I gained 7 to 8 pounds in the first trimester then didn't gain anything for a month. I know it is coming though haha Take it for what it is worth...if you are eating healthy and taking care of yourself you are okay. I am sure your doctor will talk to you if he feels you are excessively gaining weight.
