My midwife was fine with taking an over-the-counter remedy, but said not to get the one day treatment (maybe too potent?not sure) Also, eating yogurt or taking acedophelus (SP?) supplements are more of a natural remedy that she asked me to do first....I rarely needed the o-t-c meds. Good luck!
you should as soon as possible so you wouldn't need antibacterial treatment.in advance cases of yeast infection, they give u an anti-fungul pill but it's not known its safety during pregnancy..
so make sure you are seen by ur OB and get treatment
good luck
Thanks.I took monistat cream and it helped a little bit.Its just my second day so will see. Thanks for all the advised.
Monistat or something similar is safe to take during pregnancy and if the baby is born vaginally while you have a yeast infection, he or she could end up with thrush in his mouth and that would be much trickier to get rid of.
Unfortunately, yeast infections are just more likely to happen during pregnancy. I never had one in my life until I got pregnant and now I've had two! Both were diagnosed by my midwife and both times they told me to take the over the counter remedy.
I took Monistat once and I took a generic OTC remedy the second time-- it had a different medication in it and the midwife said that it's best to go for a variety, because there's no telling which medication will be most effective against the strain of yeast you have.
Try also taking probiotics and/or eating yogurt. Supposedly helps prevent a recurrance... we'll see. :)
If you have a yeast infection the doc told me that Monstat is good to use while pregnant but I would have it checked out by the doc 1st b/c that's what I thought I had 2 & it wasn't that. I had Bacterial Vaginouses. Don't ask what that is I have no clue. I get the weirdest things down below. I am always getting UTI's and I was tested positive for the Group B Strep too. Lucky me, right. The doc gave me a choice of pills or the suppositorys so I did the suppositorys for 3 days instead of the pills to get it over with faster. I am on my 2nd day and I still have that burning feeling. I hope it goes away b/c it's annoying now. Well I hope that I helped u out. Sorry for my rumbling on & on. I just wanted to let u know that u aren't alone. Good luck!!!
I have never heard of a yeast infection being linked to preterm labour, but I am not a Dr. either so I certainly don't know that for sure. I do know you shouldn't just ignore it, nor should you try to treat it yourself with an over the counter remedy. You should see your Dr. I don't know it this applied to yeast infections, but I do know that small issues can be bigger problems during pregnancy and your Dr. is the best person to diagnose and treat you appropriately. Good luck to you, yeast infections are so yucky!!
