12 week u/s diagnosed an Enlarged Bladder

Hey All.  Was wondering if anyone else on here has gone through this. We are currently 12 weeks pregnant with twins.  So far, so good.  I had the NT scan on Friday and all looked good, however, the doc explained that there is something that concerns him.  Baby B has an enlarged bladder.  Of course this just led to a ton of questions.  Basically- worst case scenario is that there is a blockage that could be fatal.  Pressure couldbuild up and the heart will eventually stop, or also kidney failure. Either way, we could lose Baby B...IF this happens.  Doc also explained that this could be nothing or the body could fix itself.

he explained that there have been cases when they did surgery while pregnant. Putting a drain in the baby's bladder. but- that just is a temporay fix and will need surgery when it is born. If there is already bladder problems, who knows what else there will be?  Not too mention, since we are pregnant with twins, that also puts the healthy one at risk.

I have to go back in 1 week for a followup u/s.  I am well aware the worst thing i could do is freak out and start reading about all the "worst case scenarios" online, but how do I NOT read online.  So...here I am...now posting.  Just curious as to any other stories....good or bad out there.

For that- a very sincere thank you!!  yes, me and "google" should NOT be this tight.  My husband says the same thing.  Im keeping my fingers crossed and will know more on Friday afternoon!!! Thanks!! I'll write about what the follow-up appt says.  (hate it when people never write back and keep me hanging)

Thanks again!!!  ...to be continued....

I wish I could offer something helpful.  I am so sorry that this is a stressful time for you..it's always so worrisome when they tell us that anything may not be right.  The only similar situation I had was at my 20 week anatomy scan, and they thought they saw something not quite right with his stomache.  Follow up turned out to be nothing at all...and I hope it's the same for you. I wish you well, and as you know, googling is a really bad idea.  I cannot tell you how many times I scared myself half to death googling "what ifs".  I know, impossible not to though.  I am glad you only have to wait a week for follow up. Please keep us posted and take good care.
