Confused

I took 3 HPT's and they are all positive. Today I went to the OB and the urine test that they did was negative. I had my blood drawn yesterday and my HCG level is 236. They drew more blood today at the OB office. Am I pregnant? I have been having very sharp pains in my uterus and twinges and things,,no spotting/blood. Im just so confused. I thought my LMP was around 10/19-10/20. I cant remember though.

Your OB sounds horrible.  I would definitely see someone else on Monday if you can.  They can draw more blood and let you know what's going on.  And plenty of people with low progesterone get on supplements and carry the baby. Mine was low and I was on supplements from week 5-10 and now I'm a little over 12 weeks and all is good.

If this is a m/c, it could possibly be a natural one.  (I've had 3 m/c's)  With my last 2, I knew I was going to m/c bc my hcg wasn't doubling like it should.  Once I knew I would m/c, it was about a week b/4 it actually started.  With one of them, it was just like a period.  With my last one, I had about 8 hours of really really bad cramping (doubled over in pain) but then it eased up and I bled for about a week. With my first m/c, I had to have a D&C bc it was a missed m/c and my body wasn't expelling it.  the D&C was really pain free and recovery was easy.  Just letting you know what you might expect if you do m/c.  but none of us know for sure that's what's going to happen.

I hope you get in to a doctor who is human.  If your hcg is going up like it should, but your progesterone is low, then ask for supplements.

Good luck, hun.  I'm sorry you've had to go thru this.  It sounds like an absolute nightmare and makes me want to kiss my OB for being such a good guy.

Time to have nothing to do with this doctor. Raise some hell and pray. You may be miscarrying, or you could have a chance. Perhaps find a prolife office. I have found them to be more honest and less willing to just give up.

They are also more willing to check for oddball things like ectopic pregnancies.

The doctor you have must have bought his degree...disgusted.

It happened. Yesterday afternoon/evening the cramping became more freq and in waves every 5-6min. We drove to the ER and in the waiting room I coughed and things exploded. Blood and tons of clots and I got sick. The US confirmed the loss. In a way Im glad its "over" but I feel just awful emotionally. Im traumatized from all this. It shouldn't have been this way and I guess it just wasn't meant to be. I just had to send my hubby out to pick up my pain medications as I am cramping a lot again. The bleeding is subsiding some.

miscarriages can be very traumatic, and it can be very frustrating when you just want it over with, but in a small way, when it does take time to happen your are ready for it and it isnt such a shock, rather than it just happening over night, you can sort of accept whats happening, alot of women who go through a miscarriage do struggle with wanting to try again, incase they have to deal with miscarriage again, I have had 6 altogether and 5 in the last 5yrs , these last 5 are all due to my age, so its really an expected thing, for me I'm sad when they happen but I know something wasnt right, so the pregnancy couldnt progress and  I try and think logically about it when it happens, you have to decide whats right for you and althogh your age give you a slightly higer risk of miscarriage there no reason to think that the next pregnancy if you decide to try again will end the same way, I have had 3 healthly babies since turning 40, with what your going through at the moment things dont sound too promising and if it were me I would say that things are starting to happen, good luck and take your time to decide on wether you will try again

I've been having these terrible intermittent cramps and a lot of brown stringy mucousy discharge. I think something is going on in there. I don't go back till the 17 th and what's the point in calling the doctor? I hate to say this but if I am going to miscarry I wish my body would hurry up. I have never been pregnant before and I don't even know if I want to try again after this. This has been horrific and very traumatizing. When I wipe this am it was brown spotting. What is going on in there that causes that?

well guess I spoke too soon. Blood work was not good. My level is only 315 on Friday it was 248/252. She tells me this is a chemical pregnsncy. Then calls me later and says that the blood work is not correlating with what is showing up on the US. US shows a fetal HR 85 which she said was low. BUt shows a sac and all that. Oh and my progesterone was in the 7's. So what now? THe OB doc wants to see me tomm again and draw MORE blood. WTF?! Is it worth it?

Super news! I was going to say to repeat the HCG after your last message... But an Ultrasound is even better, and your news are amazing: it's rare to see a heartbeat so early in pregnancy: congrats!
Prometrium is the best progesterone supplement, your progesterone rate will shoot up now.

I had to beg my OB Dr for progesterone. They finally gave it to me and I believe it saved my pregnancy. Actually two of my pregnancies. And before that I had to miscarriages and was not given progesterone even though I asked for it. Demand good care in the name of your unborn child. Don't give up only because the Dr doesn't feel like working on  Friday afternoon. Cases like that make me lose faith in the doctors out there.

I did!! I called them today and pitched a fit!! They apologized like you wouldn't believe! They did an ultrasound and found the gestational sac and you could see a flicker of the heartbeat!! It was 85/min! Good crown rump measurements! Everything looks good and I was started on prometrium! I cant believe it after all I went thru this weekend "waiting" to have a miscarriage! The emotions,,blaming myself,,etc... Im still very cautious though!

Please see a new ob. My sis in law and I are both over 35, both know progesterone, both around 10 weeks. My doc was proactive about the low progesterone and started me on prometrium, hers wasn't (and her care sounds comparable to yours). They found my baby's HB but haven't found hers yet and her doc is still doing the wait and see routine. I have begged her to switch docs because there is no excuse for being treated like you're not 100% important by your doc. Stand up for yourself and your baby...good luck to you.

Stacey 10 is correct in that it doesn't need to double. Mine wasn't quite doubling, but was Atleast 60% every time, and I am having a healthy pregnancy.

I would just like to add that your hcg doesnt have to bouble in 48 hrs, they (doctors) like to see it do that but you can have a viable pregnancy if your hcgg rises by a minimum of^60% in a 48-72 hr time frame, you can google hcg calculators in early pregnancy and see if yours are doing that, if they are stamp your feet and demand progesterone suppliments!!!

I would wait a bit longer. Go see another OB doctor. There has to be one with more compassion than the one you just saw. My heart goes out to you.
I am 40, and I had 2 missed miscarriages in a row last year.
Don't give up, if a baby is what you really want. We tried again, and I am now 24 weeks pregnant, he will be born 1 month before I turn 41. We are so glad we kept on trying. We worked thru the grief and losses and didn't give up hope.

Well so far nothing has happened. I am not bleeding. I do have some steady cramping -mild. My boobs are a lil more sore today. I don't know really what to expect from here on out. What is going to happen to my body? Do I ask for a DNC? Just so frustrating and I am defiantely going to see a different OB doctor! I am not happy with the one I saw Friday but I only saw the NP not the doc. My mom and sister see the doc and they love her. Agh! I don't know.

Your HCG does not seem to go up fast enough, it is supposed to double every 48 hours. So yes it does seem you will have a miscarriage. Don't feel you are giving up on the baby, there is unfortunately nothing you can do. Don't blame yourself! I am sorry, it is very tough!!

I had 3 miscarriages myself before the birth of my son at age 41, conceived naturally.

Don't give up! Cry, mourn... and keep trying!

PS: your OB does not seem very understanding: you may want to shop for a nicer one.

They didn't tell me what me what my level was. They didn't say anything about giving me any progesterone either. :( I guess they gave up. No one really seemed to care. It was nightmare yest all day. Went to the OB doc all excited-tested negative there-they looked at me like I was crazy-drew blood and sent me on my way. Called me later to say that it is a confirmed pregnancy my level was 248 (thur was 239) and to go to the ER cuz it was so late in the day to get an ultrasound to r/o an etopic pregnancy and also she said that my progesterone level was to low to make this a viable pregnancy and was not too optimistic but didn't tell me my level. So off to the ER we went out by house-waited for 2 hours got into a room. My primary came in to check on me and said he'd talk to the ER doc and go thru things with him. Well they ended up drawing more blood my level was like 252,,the ER doc said no point in an ultrasound because you cant see anything and radiology prob will refuse to do it even though I was having these cramping shooting pains they did a pelvic instead and said my cervix was closed and nothing abnormal. He talked to the OB doc out here and said it doesn't look good and sent me on my way... I feel like my OB doc passed me off cuz it was a Friday! Im going to follow up with the OB doc out here and my primary doc on MOnday but I feel like Im losing the baby. I feel different. My boobs are not as sore and I just don't feel like Im still pregnant. My husband and I cried together and we knew that the first time things can happen. I just feel so sorry for my baby. I don't want him/her to think I gave up-I just feel that no one was optimistc and let nature take its course. I don't know. Talk about a emotional roller coaster.
