Confusing cycle

Hello, I could use some input on this confusing cycle I am having. I have 4 kids, my youngest is 2 years old. We thought we were done after our last, but I then began to think I might like another baby.

I should start by saying that I have always been extremely regular, with a 26 day cycle. Well this past cycle, I began to feel like I was ovulating early, on day 8. (my period was heavy but short), then we had intercourse without protection for the first time in 3 years. A week later, we did the same thing.

Well, I was hoping that maybe I could have gotten pregnant from this. So, when I began to have spotting on day 18 of my cycle, 10 days after intercourse I got excited thinking it was implantation bleeding, which I did have with my daughter. But then the bleeding continued.......and it has increased. Also it has been weird. It started out very thin and very bright, not dark like my usual periods, it now looks more like a normal period, and it has been a day and a half now.

The thing that is throwing me is that I have never been 8 days early on my period before! Now I am getting depressed thinking that maybe instead of implantation bleeding, I am experiencing the beginning pre menopause shortened cycles!

I am just wondering if anyone else had implantation bleeding that was heavy, or if anyone can relate to a similar experience?

Thanks!

Even if it is peri-menopause it doesn't mean you can't have another child...it just makes it a little more difficult. There are many things you can do to increase your odds of conceiving. There is a group on this site for those TTC. Many of the regular posters here also read that board.

Thanks. My mother was done with menopause by 40. So unfortunately there is a good chance that I will go through menopause early. I was hoping to have one more before this started so this is why this scares me so! =(

It sounds too heavy to be implantation bleeding :( How old are you? I wouldn't be ready to say it is the start of pre-menopause...it could just be an odd cycle. Sometimes our hormones just go a little wonky...
