Eating

15 weeks still having an extremely hard time eating. Water doesn't stay down. I'm having acid reflux really bad. I'm afraid for my bby nothing wants to stay down. I'm literally forcing myself to eat something and I'm never satisfied.

Ooh, I remembered one more thing.  Acupuncture worked for me from weeks 6-8 but it wasn't covered by insurance.  I ended up taking the zofran instead because of the cost.  Acupuncturist warned me I would need to come 3x/wk for full results which was also difficult since I have a toddler.  I felt better after every session though.  I wish it was covered by ins.

I was on zofran

After meals I would suck on a peppermint candy

Before I would eat I would drink a liquid antacid because tUms just turned into a gelatinous mass inside my stomach and made me want to throw up

Every time I got too dehydrated from not being able to keep down water I would go get IV fluids
and after doing all of that I still felt nauseous all day long
sometimes all that I could eat every 3 days was a bowl of bananas and milk

Try to keep the liquids down.  I was on zofran weeks 8-21. The nausea did subside eventually.  I still have the reflux but it's easier to deal with if you're not puking.  Hard candies and p pops worked sometimes, Popsicles, even those frozen soft pretzels helped some days.  You're in survival mode, I went through it with my last preg and this one again.  The second time was worse I'm sorry to say.  The first time I only made it through 1st trim by eating hardboiled eggs and Rice Krispie treats!   Keep trying.  You'll find something that works.  If you're vomiting all day--like every hour or more freq them you need to call OB and they'll give you IV & anti nausea drug in the IV.  Try ice chips too.  Hang in there.  I know it's rough!

Worst thing you can do is panic/worry. There are many things docs can try for you, just keep reminding them that you are struggling. I know i have been on Pepcid, Zofran, Benadryl and something else i can't  recall at the moment. I have also used the ginger candy for nausea. There were days that sips of hot tea amd broth were all i could stomach. Hang in there.

Talk with your doctors. Don't be afraid to call them between appointments. In the meantime, keep trying small, but healthy snacks- a cube of cheese, a slice of apple. Try drinking things like warm tea, room temp "real" ginger ale and tap the glass on the counter to knock out some of the bubbles.
