I had spotting and outright bleeding throughout the first trimester (and even beyond that) in what turned out to be a healthy pregnancy. The cervix is very soft right now and easily irritated. Most of the time it's fine, but at her next appointment she should mention it to her Dr. In my case I had a small bleed outside the sac that did not interfer with the pregnancy at all. Even having intercourse can cause a bit of bleeding although typically it's safe during pregnancy.
It isn't uncommon to have some spotting in early pregnancy. It doesn't necessarily mean anything bad. She could stay off her feet until 24 hours after she stops having any bleeding, and should stay hydrated. Both things help calm the uterus.
