Infertility and FSH Level

I had my FSH levels tested twice (came in at 9 both times).  Is it unlikely I would respond to treatment such as clomid or other ovulation induction medications?  Any stories out there of successfully achieving pregnancy either naturally or with medication to enhance fertility (without having to pursue more aggressive measures such as IUI or IVF)?

Thanks to everyone for posting and providing encouragement!  My OB/GYN is concerned and I see the RE this week (other than FSH, the rest of my reproductive hormone levels have come back within normal limits).  There is some concern about possible endometriosis based on HSG results.  For the past 5 years, we said if it happened, it happened; however, we have been actively trying, charting BBT, etc. for the past 15 months without success.  I am hoping that the RE appointment will bring with it good news and eventually good results!  Thanks again for sharing your experiences with this journey!

I've tested my FSH once and it was 12. My husband and I had been trying to get pregnant for about 15 months naturally, and we were considering starting Clomid combined with IUI when I got pregnant. I am just over 15 weeks along now.
How long have you been trying to conceive? I know that FSH is not the only hormone levels to take into account when choosing what treatment to start, but from my experience with an infertility specialist, with an FSH of 9, I think you have a good chance of responding to Clomid. All the best!

My fsh level was 9 also. I became pregnant the second cycle of clomid at the lowest dose 50 mg. My OB/GYN said that anything under 10 is very good. You should be fine. SSBD!

That's not a bad number at all.  Most of the charts out there say under 10 is decent.  I had 7.8 at first and my 2nd was 9 something.  I'm 42 1/2 and am about 8 wks along; having got pregnant our 2nd month of trying after DH got back from overseas.  Also tried while he was overseas with frozen sperm; didn't work but had very good response to Clomid.  I think you've got a good chance.  Good luck!  SSBD!

I had some problems with fsh, first time i had it tested it was 11, then 10.4, the 5.5 after endometriosis removal. I also had my AMH tested and it was low end of normal .07. I took medications femara(in my opinion better than clomid because u have few side effects and doesnt thin out your lining) follistim, novarell, estrace, progesterone, prenatal vitamins, fish oil, vitamin e, calcium, vitamin d, and folic acid along with timed intercourse. My first round of meds I am now 6weeks pregnant. Hope this helps, good luck
