Just before labor starts....??

Just curious as to see what some of you ladies felt right before labor actually started.  I'm getting the BH contractions and have been for a few days now.. Not steady, but frequent...

How long did the BH last for any of you and how can you tell if you're getting close (if there's a way to tell at least).

Thanks

Scheduling my inductions with the first two babies scared their lil butts into labor! Never made it to my scheduled days!

Yes he was my first, I remember asking for drugs and being told 'no love you don't have time, just push' lol.
Hope all goes well for you, and remember nothing you do or say during labour makes you less of a mother!!
I know a few times during mine I said 'I don't want it anymore!!' Lol

I will.  I'll be on here letting people know what's going on.  Then I'll be moving on up to the new communities... Sharing my "newborn" experiences and her firsts. I'm excited... :)  Hopefully everything turns out well for everyone on here...

Thanks so much...

My friend and I had babies right around the same time and I was big time hurting around 5-6cm and she walked into the hospital with a little discomfort at 6 cm. I think her mom had similar labors, so Tiff, I hope yours will be just like that too! Some women really luck out with that. I did the whole "hold out on the meds" until I couldnt too. Its good because the epi can slow the labor and then they have to do the pitocin, which is a bummer. I cant wait to hear how things go! Keep us posted!

Well, my plan is to go as long as I can before "giving in".  My mother didn't have any labor pain with me all the way up until 8 cm but then had to get a C-section (cord was wrapped around my neck) that's the only reason she had to get an epidural.  She had my brother completely natural though.. So I'm hoping my labor progresses like hers did.  That would be wonderful.  LOL

Well, yeah that's because Pitocin makes things worse...While I was going to my Child Birth classes, they suggested that if the doctor ordered Pitocin to ask to have your epidural placed FIRST!! One thing I'll never forget... LOL... I don't want things to turn out worse than they have to be... So, I rather not feel anything at all... That's if breaking my water doesn't do the trick...

Thanks though

Lol that's good glad to be of help. One more thing they say that when you get induced your contractions hurt a lot more. But to be honest I didn't see much diff lol my daughter is almost 8 and I had my second when she was like 6 so even with that time gap I still membered the pain and its pretty much the same lol so just letting you know.

Helps a lot.  I schedule my induction tomorrow and I've been very hesitant about it, but that makes me feel a lot better.  Actually, all weekend I've been talking to people asking if they've been induced and all of them said they had a good experience with it and no on ended up having a C-section, which is what I feared.  So, I'm glad, since I'm closer, to hear that most inductions go pretty well.  Helps me a lot.  I'll be 40 weeks tomorrow.. So it calms my nerves a little bit.

Thanks... :)

My first baby was late so I had to be induced and it wasn't bad or anything I haf no problems. Went in got induced they broke my water at 6cm got the epi and a lil while later my baby girl was born I had to get stiches she was a big baby glad I decided on the epi. My second baby I had no real signs I lost my mucus plug a few weeks earlier then right on my due date at like 10pm I layed on my couch and my water broke lol I jumped up I was so shocked and kinda just stood on the tile leeking for a min then I told my bro to get my mom cuz he was the only one left in the house I got changed then me and my husband went to the hospital I waited for a while to get the epi after I got it it was a lil bit later I got my other lil girl. I had to get stiches again and I had a feeling I would need to get them so again glad I got the epi. Oh and I had her the next morning at like 8-9. I'm 37+3 weeks so I have no idea what to expect with my baby boy. Don't know if that helps any lol.

Wow!! Well, I'm glad it all happened for you pretty quickly.  Was it your first?

I already started off different; been contracting for weeks now.. LOL.. So I doubt it's going to happen in that order for me... Would've been nice.. :)

I didn't have BH at all, I woke up at 1.30 am and felt cramps, hour and half later woke hubby up coz they had gone from 4 min apart to 1-2 min apart. Midwife checked me at hospital said I was 3-4cm dilated and did I want to stay or go home. I went home had a nap, had a shower and some food. Went back to the hospital at 6am because the contractions were intense, midwife confirmed I was fully dilated and my waters broke when she checked. Had my son at 8.23 am in the morning. No drugs, no stiches. And he was 8lb13oz.....
So so hoping this one goes the same way!!

I hear from my friend that inductions aren't as bad as people say they are and that there has to be risks involved for an induction to result in a C-section.  So, if anything, possibly just breaking your water is all it may take and that might even speed things up.  So now I'm just curious to see if that'll be the case for me.  I hope so. The sooner the better.. LOL... Thanks

I know. I wish they would hurry up and get closer together. I'm just anticipating the actual start of labor. From there I'll be fine.. It's just nerve wrecking waiting for them to be closer together. Ugh..

With each baby I have felt an increase in bh towards the end. They increased in frequency and duration before changing over to the big dogs.....eventually.

Oh boy... ok... well I'll be looking for the pain I guess... My mom didn't have any labor pains until about 8 cm... That's why I was asking... I've carried the same way she has so far.. and the BH contractions don't hurt, but they're steady.. Idk.. I'll just wait for induction I guess... Thanks...

With my first pregnancy i had bh for about 2 months and then one night i lost my plug. Verry next day i woke up at 6am with contractions and thought they would go away. I felt so tired and hot like i was sick and then the contractions got alot more painfull. The real contractions are nothing like the bh ones. They hurt bad. Youll feel pain all the way wraped around your back and stomach down to ur theighs. I cried lol
