Just left the ER!

Hey, I just left the ER. I started spotting red this morning. They did a pelvic exam and my cervix is closed. The spotting is pretty much gone.
My HCG rose from 963 to 5,333. My last beta was taking this past Tuesday. So that is a good sign. They also did a u/s but begin that I am only 5wk 3days all they saw was a sac and the yolk sac. They said I am measuring right where I should be. They told me to call my doctor tomorrow.  I prayed to Cooper the whole time. I am nervous wreck! I just want this so badly. So thank goodness I have the next two weeks off. I am going to take it easy.

Off to the couch I go!

I had a bleeding episode at 5 weeks 4 days and we didn't even see the yolk sack!  But at 6 weeks + there was a heartbeat. Most ob's would not do an u/s till 7 weeks.

Oops. I should have said, the heart beat isn't typically visible until the 6th week (not start). I think it starts beating at 28 days or something like that but not visible on u/s.

Hi Rachel! I am so sorry for your scare. I also had spotting but it went away overnight. It was right around 8 weeks for me. It is perfectly normal to see the gestational sac and yolk sac. The heartbeat doesn't start until week 6. Here is a link to some info I found about heartbeats/rates (http://www.ob-ultrasound.net/):

1. Diagnosis and confirmation of early pregnancy.

The gestational sac can be visualized as early as four and a half weeks of gestation and the yolk sac at about five weeks. The embryo can be observed and measured by about five and a half weeks. Ultrasound can also very importantly confirm the site of the pregnancy is within the cavity of the uterus.

2. Vaginal bleeding in early pregnancy.

The viability of the fetus can be documented in the presence of vaginal bleeding in early pregnancy. A visible heartbeat could be seen and detectable by pulsed doppler ultrasound by about 6 weeks and is usually clearly depictable by 7 weeks. If this is observed, the probability of a continued pregnancy is better than 95 percent. Missed abortions and blighted ovum will usually give typical pictures of a deformed gestational sac and absence of fetal poles or heart beat.

Fetal heart rate tends to vary with gestational age in the very early parts of pregnancy. Normal heart rate at 6 weeks is around 90-110 beats per minute (bpm) and at 9 weeks is 140-170 bpm. At 5-8 weeks a bradycardia (less than 90 bpm) is associated with a high risk of miscarriage.

Thanks everyone!! I called my doctor's office about 3 1/2 hours ago and talked to the nurse. She said she was going to talk to my doctor and call me back, but she has not yet. She said something about me going this week. But I told her I would not be 6wks until Friday and I really do not want to go in and get all nervous again. I am willing to go early to mid next week, but not any sooner than that.

It is common to only see the gestational sac and yolk sac at around 5wks 2 days?? I am just so nervous!!!!!

Back to the couch I go!!!

Did you know that most if not all women develop a cyst on their ovaries in the beginning of pregnancy?  My daughter's OB saw one on her u/s when she was 8 weeks along and said they were quite common.  It's usually on the side of the ovary that you ovulated from.  They usually go away on their own and is caused by increasing hormone levels.  Or so I was told by an OB.

I am super glad to hear about those HcG levels.  Wow, girl...you go.  You are perfect for this stage of pregnancy and slightly above.  Since the doctor has seen the pregnancy in the uterus at least there are no worries that this is an ectopc pregnancy.  They should see the baby at your next u/s. With those hcg levels we all know that something great is happening in that precious womb of yours.

I am sorry that you had a scare.  Boy, you are really being tested, aren't you.  I hope it's smooth sailing from here on out.  I am going to go out on a limb here and guess that this baby is going to be a girl.

Get some rest, precious.  We are ALL here to wish you well and send you all of prayers.  Merry Christmas to you and your family, dearheart.  To ALL the mommies on the Forum, for that matter.  Many blessings to you and your families, now and in the coming year.

Big Mommie Hugs,
Heather
from the MS Forum  (I only put that in, since there is another Heather on the pregnancy Forum's)  I just want to make sure that you all know that this is the "old" Heather that is posting...LOL

Oh Rachel, I so wanted you to have one of those smooth pregnancies with no stress or scares.  I guess it rarely works that way huh.  It does really sound like everything is good though, as scary as that blood must have been!  Your numbers are great and you mentioned the sac was measuring right where it should be.  All good things.  And it must be a bit of a relief to know what possibly caused the bleeding as well as whats been causing the cramping.  Now, you take it easy girl!!  Feet up, relax and let your DH pamper you.  Don't make me come out there!!!  lol.  XOXO

Hi. I just wanted to say that I also had bright red spotting/bleeding when I was pregnant with my DD. I was around 6w at the time. I was terrified and it lasted several days for me. I was sure that I would miscarry...but she is now is 13. I stayed on bed rest with my feet up for 2 weeks and only moved when necessary.

Just try and take it easy. Your numbers and everything look great!  I have you in my thoughts - I think everything is going to be fine for you and baby, but I am hoping that you will not be too worried :)

Oh, I forgot to mention that I have a huge cyst on my right ovary. That is why I have been cramping and they think that is what caused the bleeding.  I knew I did my ovary felt like it was twisted, so I am glad that identified that, now I do not feel so crazy.

I am just hoping for the best!
