Last weeks of pregnancy...question on symptoms...

The last few weeks I have just not been feeling all that great.  This week has been particularly difficult.  I am pretty nauseaus and well, let's just say I have gone completely in the opposite direction of constipation.  I also seem to have an almost constant headache..not unbearable, just strong enough to make me want to lay down a lot more then I have been. Insomnia is also a big one right now.  I haven't changed my diet or anything, and I know I haven't eaten anything "off".  I was looking on line and it say's this can happen as we get closer to the end of our pregnancies.  I am not really worried, just curious if others experienced this.  I am assuming it's a combination of hormones and the mild stress I am experiencing knowing I will deliver soon.

I pooped on the table.  I have to admit, it was embarrassing, but at the same time it relieved me to real/y push the baby out.

Amanda, are you or DH going to catch the baby? Sometimes they will let mom or dad catch the baby. When my sis had her last baby her and her DH caught him together. The DR will tell you when to reach down and you just gently pull him out, and DH can do it w/ you. I wish I could have another vaginal delivery so we could do that. My DH wont even get to cut the cord. Makes me feel like we are missing out on so much. I also has the mirror w/ my daughter 15 years ago and it did give me the strength to get through it as well. Once I saw hair I just started pushing as hard as I could and got her out in 3 pushes total.....LOL

I think the mirror is a great idea too, but to be honest, during those last few minutes you really aren't focusing on anything but getting baby out. I also has a mirror, but I was paying more attention to getting him out that everything else seemed a blur.

As for the swelling, I guess that would depend on how long the pushing is. I felt normal, with no pain down there within minutes after everything was said and done. An hour after the birth of my son I was ready to get up and walk around. :)

Yep, got to see it last night during that delivery video we watched during our class.  It was real and it was complete if you know what I mean.  They gave the women giving birth a mirror as well...Warren asked me this morning if we should do that....I think it's a great idea!!  I can't believe the women in the video let them tape that and show it though....I told Warren there is no way we are bringing the video camera into the delivery room.  I think we will just stick with a camera...lol.

ya your vajayjay gets quite swollen from pushing. you look like you have balls haha.

hey amanda..  I just wanted to urge you to ask for a mirror so that you can see your little baby be born. . I did it with parissa and I loved seeing her first moments in the world.. the hospital had a large mirror and wheels and placed it where I could see her...  good luck!!

Yay!  You are getting close :) I remember not feeling well the few days before I went into labor.  And the insomnia was really bad.  It must be God's way of preparing you to be awake more to care for you newborn.
Hang in there. You almost there!!

All the best adgal, it all sounds as if you're heading towards the final bit - yeeha.  Are you seeing your care provider weekly now?  Just remember extra monitoring of BP and protein at this stage.

Can't wait now, isn't it exciting!!! lol

I am also very close to your date I am 38 weeks today. I have some of the same symptoms, fatigue, and my sleep pattern is wacky. I know they say babies get days and nights mixed up, but I think I have my days and nights mixed up. I get this overwhelming need to clean at midnight.
I have been working from home so I have discovery Health on 24 7 , that show just solidifies my love of epidurals :)

The waiting is the toughest part for me right now, my first was a week late and I had him induced, I am getting worried that this one is in no hurry either.
I cant wait to meet him!!!

Good luck

Yeah, lots of contractions.  I think they are just Braxton Hicks, although they have been getting increasingly more intense.  I was told I am technically in labor, and that sometimes it happens this way...a very slow, long process. The contractions wake me up most nights.  I also have had very little appetite, and am also forcing myself to eat.  I sort of nibble all day, big meals aren't working for me.  At my appointment on monday she said anytime, or could still be weeks.

It sounds to me like you are getting really close and all your symptoms are normal. One thing I remember from the day I went into labor was the fact that ALL food was not appealing. I didn't want anything to eat and couldn't even think about it. Have you had any contractions yet (BH or otherwise)?

Amanda,

My delivery is Wed. so you all better get busy if we are going to have these babies on the same day.....LOL I don't think my Dr will post pone it any further.

As for pooping, well I'm kinda embarrassed to say I did it w/ my son. I knew right when it happened and was so shocked that I actually did that. I kept apologizing, and the Dr kept saying she was used to it. I hear that usually a woman wont even know when she does it. That was not my case, but that could be because I didn't get my epidural and I was cussing all the Drs and nurses. Maybe it was to put me in my place.....LOL

Lol, pooping on the table is one of my biggest fears.  I know it's not abnormal, but I would be mortified!!!

I have the exact same symptoms. Last few days I have def been in the bathroom more going #2. LOL ;)  Terrible insomnia, nausea, headaches.. Feels like I am back in the first trimester. UGH!  My boobs have also started to leak and throb. Terrible pressure and shooting pains in the cervix. Already lost my plug but a lot more discharge.Lots of contractions and already 3cm and 50% effaced. I go back on Monday for another NST and as I have said to adgal I hope I am 4cm and they send me in to the hosp.

No desire for nesting tho.. LOL I am too friggin tired..

Sounds all normal to me!  I had the exact same symptoms the last month!  The best part is that it ALL goes away the minute you deliver ;-)
So excited for you!!!  Can't wait to see pics!

I actually think we will do ok on the date night department.  In all honesty, I have people lining up to babysit..lol.  I am just hoping we get to spend some time with the little guy. As strange as it sounds we actually do fairly regular "marriage counselling".  It's a proactive approach for us and I really think it does so much good.  So we have talked a lot about it, and are really committed to still working on our marriage.  I think that's one of the best gifts we can give our son...if he actually ever gets here....lol.

stop reading lol.  i have limited my research on the net, you can make yourself crazy!

everyone has a different take on how they want to have their baby.  some use pain meds some use epi (i did an epi with my son) and some go au natural (my dream for this baby shoud anyone agree to a vbac!).  it is ok to do what works for you, just make sure you know the pros and cons ;)

should we all bet now on what he weighs or the day he will come?  or if you tell warren to go (insert your favorite word here lol) himself haha.  i bet he will be a great coach.  my first made me want to kill him joking at the worst part of my contraction.
my dh now is so quiet and turns inward when nervous or stressed.  man its  good thing they dont have the kids huh?

you and dh need to have one more romantic night out before the baby comes.  its so important to have date nights.  we dont have very many its hard to find time.  but when we do our marriage shows it.

Amanda,

All these things are all normal.  When you start cleaning the house and can't stop then you will know something is really going to happen.  You will get through this like a champ, just remember this is the best pain you will ever experience.  Try and get some much needed rest the next couple of days/weeks.

Also, when are you going to post pictures of the baby's room, we are all dying to see his special little nest.

Yeah, I heard from her a bit ago.  Still lot's of contractions, but she is still only at 3cm.  She and I seem to be feeling the same way...let's get on with it!!! lol.

Funny, the pain doesn't scare me at all.  Although I am not going to feel like a bad person if I decide to take pain meds or whatever.  I have heard a lot of women really beat themselves up for not "toughing it out".  I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but I am not going to kill myself either.  Maybe that's a bad attitude, but so be it!! lol.  My fears are more that something will go wrong impacting Ryder.  A compressed cord or he gets into distress..that sort of thing.  I think that's part of why I am getting so impatient...I know I am not going to completely relax until I hear that cry and he is in my arms.  I really need to stop reading about all the things that can go wrong...I know logically that most of the time all is fine.  Thank God for modern day technology!!!

sounds like your body is getting ready!  the funny thing with my kids i had a great nights sleep the night before, i guess if you find yourself sleeping watch out! lol

remember whatever the pain is like, it wont last forever.  remind yourself and have warren remind you what you have gone through to get to this moment!! have you considered what you want or dont want during birth?  meds and epi and such?  i hope you are one of those lucky one you hear say "it wasnt bad just like cramps" lol.  biotches!!!! it isnt so! haha.   anyway  i keep checking for you and quinns mama to see if anything is happening.  have you heard from her today?  is she having another nst?

With my first I went into labor on my own, the day after her due date ;)  that week, I had the runs, felt "off" had TONS of braxton hicks, I just KNEW it was super close.  Our bodies just have a way of letting us know!
It was I think a Friday night, & I was getting last minute stuff w/my mom @ a store (my DH was a student...she was a college baby;) & I kept getting TONS of contractions, like every 3-5 minutes, my mom was soooo nervous! It was funny!  But that night when I was just laying around they were coming on strong!  I called my husband to come home, he was working, (waiter) he did & we went to L&D around 9:00 PM, they checked me out, monitored me, & after about 2 hours said "hunny, your still a long ways away"  & I thought NO I'M NOT!  I can tell, my contraction were still @ about 5 minutes apart, but I was only about 50% effaced, & @ a 1 ;(  So they gave me a BIG shot of demerol,  & sent me home said it will stop my contractions, & I'll probably be back in a day or two!  I was SOOOO drugged up LOL  I remember going thru the taco bell drive thru & was just non stop talking & my DH & mom just making fun of me!  I went home, ate my "last meal" a bowl of cereal & went to bed..........2 hours later I was in soooo much pain & said, I HAVE TO GO BACK NOW!!! The demerol was OUT!  In felt everything!
Long story short, I was in labor, got an epideral too soon, & it stopped my contractions, so when I got to a 3, I was given PIT & 2 hours later Rio was born ;o)

My other 2, I was induced about 5-7 days early, cuz my first was born w/meconium so my new Dr felt it was better to induce to avoid this again, which was FINE w/me ;)

My body takes a very long time w/all 3 to get from a 1-3.......but once I get to a 3, all 3 of my babies are born within 2 hours!

Amanda, you are getting really close ;o)  So fun!!!!  I think you will enjoy every moment, yes it's true it doesn't tickle ;) But it's not that bad, & only lasts a moment ;o)
