Looks like ectopic but doc wants to wait and check hcg. Anyone had this happen?

I am wondering if any of you have experienced what I'm going through right now? I started spotting instead of a period. After about 4-5 days a took a hpt and it was positive. Because of my history of ectopics, 1st ruptured and tube was removed, 2nd early enogh for shot, I went to the er. The US showed something in the tube, no fetal signs and nothing in the uterus. It sounded like I was going to get the shot again but the OB doc came in and said he wants to wait and check my hcg in 2 days. (today, impatiently waiting for reaults) My question is what would they have seen in the tube if it's not an ectopic? Any of you have anything similar happen? Results?

And I don't remember what my hcg was but he said he wouldn't expect to see anything at the range I was 2 days ago. That's why he wants it rechecked, to see if it goes up or down.
