No fetal pole/heartbeat at 6w2d, please advise

I had my first u/s at 6w2d yesterday after an FET (so I know that the gest age is correct). My RE saw the gest sac (at .85 cm) and yolk sac (at .42 cm) but no fetal pole or heartbeat. He did not give us much hope that this pregnancy will last. I have another u/s in 5 days. My question is, is it possible that the embryo implanted a couple of days later than normal or that the baby is just a little behind and we could have something show up on the next u/s? We are preparing for miscarriage but would like to know if there is any hope. Also, if this pregnancy does end in miscarriage or D&C, how long before we can do another FET? Thanks in advance.

Have they checked your hcg levels?  Anything is possible...  I don't know much about waiting on another FET, but there are a lot of stories where there is no HB at 6 weeks, and then at 7 or 8 weeks one showed up-  that is the reason I refused to do my first ultrasound until 9 weeks after my two miscarriages where I had the first u/s at 6 weeks...  it was just too early to know for sure, and the waiting killed me-  so I started to wait until 9 weeks for going in for my first u/s...  9 weeks and 3 days with both of my healthy beans-  seemed like a good luck charm to do them on the same day!  good luck!

Unfortunately there's not much you can do but wait for your next ultrasound. Usually, the heartbeat shows sometime in the 6th week, so at only 6w2d, there's still hope. My RE won't do the first ultrasound until 7 weeks for this exact reason. Not sure if the fetal pole is suppose to show earlier, but I know from previous experiences that it was not visible in the 5th week, and that was considered normal. Best of luck with your next ultrasound. I hope it brings you some good news!
