Normal Fetal Heart Rate at 10 weeks?

Had my first u/s  today ( *yay*) and I am measuring 10 weeks and 3 days with a fetal heart rate of 167 bpm. I thought that the h/r I have was normal and so does my doctor, but I read somewhere on here that someone put that a normal heart rate is between 120 and 160?? I can't remember where I saw it but I saw it. Alittle concerning. I'ved looked online and I've seen lots of written statements from people who've had fetal heart rates closer to 170 at 10 weeks and all is fine and normal.

So I started this question to get some insight from others at 10 weeks and what their h/r are or were. I am confident that on my part everything is going well but for peace of mind it would be nice to hear from others. :)

Both are totally normal! The baby moves around quite a bit early on, and the heart rate sounds great!

I am 11 weeks pregnant and went in for an ultra sound at 9 weeks. After having 2 miscarriages the doctor wanted to make sure all was good. Let me tell you, we had a scare with this one as well. My symptoms stopped, my breasts stopped hurting and urination slowed at 8 weeks. The doctor was concerned. After getting an ultra sound and finding out the babies heartbeat was 171 bmp we were all relieved. The doctor said that this was a strong healthy heartbeat!! So..without an ultra sound please don't stress too much! Ultra sounds can relieve so much worry and agony!

I am 10 weeks 2 days and my baby's heartbeat is 140. I am beginning to worry, maybe should be higher?
It is my first, and only for I am 48....

Fetal heartrate starts out much higher..usually between 160-180's as you get further along the HB will slow down and level out between 120s - 140s

I had my first ultrasound today, I'm 10 weeks and 2 days along and I'm pretty sure the doctor said the heartbeat was around 160, and she told me that everything was perfect.

Congratulations!  Your babys HB is perfect!  I can't recall my son's HB at 10wks, but it was consistantly in the 137-145 range throughout.  This pregnancy, with a girl, at 10wks her HB was about 158, and has been between 150-158.

Hi again.  After reading your post I started googling info on normal heartrates for first trimester.  Yours still sounds completely normal to me.  I wanted to mention that when I heard the heartbeat last week on Doppler, the OB said that it can really vary if you catch baby resting vs. being active.  That's why the range is so high.  I found this article on an actual medical website, written by an OB.  Hopefully this helps set your mind at ease.

What should my baby's fetal heart-rate be?
The normal fetal heart rate is between 110 to 180 beats per minutes (BPM), but can vary. Fluctuations of the fetal heart rate (usually associated with fetal movement) during different periods of the day are common and often rise above 160, going as high as 180 to 190 and are considered normal. If you have questions or concerns about your baby's fetal heart rate always direct them to your healthcare professional.

What hearing a healthy heartbeat signifies
Listening to a normally beating heart using a fetal ultrasound doppler as early as 8 weeks can offer reassurance and cut down on a lot of stress and help assure that the developing fetus is healthy. While miscarriage occurs in only about 15 percent of apparently normal pregnancies, it only occurs in about 1 percent of pregnancies where a normal heartbeat has been seen or heard.

9 weeks 4 days the hb was 172.
10 weeks hb was 180.
11 weeks 2 days hb was 150.
13 weeks the hb was 160.

The doctor said it's depends on how your baby activities in the womb.  if baby moving alot, then heart rate can goes up... just like us when we active, our heart rate will go up...

Congrats and good luck to  you.

Sounds great to me!   I was told normal range at that stage is 120 - 170.  I know it starts to slow down a bit at this point.  I was 175 at 9W2D and 157 at 10W5D.  I think you are well within normal range.  Congratulations on a great ultrasound!!

I'm 7 weeks with a fetal heart rate of 167.  My RE, family doctor and ND were all thrilled with the rate.  They said it was nice & strong.  Hope that helps.
