Ok, I got enough of this!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know what the heck else to do! I got my sinuses STUFFED TO THE MAX... i've been like that for the past week and a half now and been using Afrin (read is ok??)... now i am scared to death im getting addicted to it! so im trying to wean down... using saline solution spray, which works half ways for like 15 minutes and then right back to my misery!!! =(
I also have THE MOST HORRIBLE back ache!!! =(((((( OUCH! i mean, even to move my head downwards HURTS like the devil.... not to mention when i sneeze i about scream in pain!! =S
I just called the doctor which the nurse said i could take plain sudafed, and plain robbitussin.... and for the back ache she was gonna ask the doctor... as well as the afrin.... ?!? i also asked her that i often find myself sleeping on my back... which i read is BAD for you and the baby!! =((( maybe that's why it hurts so bad??

It's not the lower back thank goodness is like the spine right where my bra is....and it's unbearable now!!! im at work, so i can't even lay down.... ouchie ouchie ouchie....

Little Maddy, mommy loves you so much regardless!

I'm sorry to hear about your back pain.  I had back pain under my right shoulder blade with my 1st pregnancy...it turned out to be cholecystitis (inflamed gall bladder).  It's not that uncommon in pregnancy, and often missed.  The pain was far far worse than labor.  Upper back pain is unusual in pregnancy, so you might want to at least mention it to your OB.

Good luck!

Don't be scared of a little pot.

It doesn't hurt a bit.

Also, you can take Benadryl.  It knocks you out.

Just wanted to say I hope you feel better and that your suffering ends soon!
I would definately lay off of the Afrin.  My husband is a physician and uses it occasionally.  I think when we were dating, I remember him saying something like it works great for a couple of days, but after that don't use it because it has some sort of rebound effect. He just came home from the hospital last night really sick and I have a feeling I might be next.

aweeee!!!!!! thank you girls!!!! it's been miserable! heck... if girls on pot and snorting DO get pregnant... i don't see a problem with being pregnant and getting started on pot and snorting white stuff! ;) hehehe

Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!!!!! so much for the ideas! I got scared sh*tless last night when dh got the sudafed denied by the pharmacy guy... saying it's super dangerous to the baby! =S then why the heck would an OB ok it?!
Anyway, i didn't want to even turn to see the tylenol for the same fear now and slept all night with the pain.... well, should i say, i just layed in bed miserable and hoping i could get some night's rest.....=( so im dragging, needless to say...

Is it ok to take Tylenol?? girls, im sorry to hear you guys have the same back aches and stuffy noses! it's horrible! i tried a hot shower (standing there and just let it hit my back) but as soon as i get out it's back again! so i doubt a heating pad would be any better...

I swear every time i sneeze man! lol... it friggin' hurts!! lol

oh my...

but all in all... ya know? we can all say we're pretty tough chicks for enduring this things, getting over them and still love our babies no matter what... even to the point where we can bare with this and more!!!! anything for them! ... i bet you guys feel as proud of yourselves as i do.... =)

Thank you all!!!!

My back was hurting really bad for a while also. It wasn't the lower back, it was the upper back between my shoulder blades. It would flare up when ever I was doing a task were I was standing but slightly leaned forward.  Tylenol helped.

Sorry about all your aches and stuffy nose. My nose gets stuffy at night but hasn't been bad during the day.

Thanks for putting the post up for the neti pot.  I read it like 4:00 a.m. and the name just didn't stick.  I guess I enjoy the suffering because I haven't gone to get one yet, but my friend at work recommended it as well.  I was hoping you would see the post and tell her what it is.  I am chicken about putting liquid up my nose with anything, but if it will help my head, I am going to try it.  Thanks again!!

Yeah, it's basically what I said above......I guess the pot is just a fancier way to go instead of the snorting.

Sorry you'resick.

It was me who suggested the disgusting little pot.  It's called a Neti Pot or Nasal Pot.  It's a little ceramic tea pot- looking thing.   Orphanannie has the right idea. Add sea salt and warm water (it has to be sea salt), stick it in one nostril, tip your head at the right angle, and it comes out the other. It helped a lot.  My sinus infection was cured in around 5 days, after more than 3 weeks of suffering.

I read a post either here or on the maternal forum about some kind of a "pot", I can't remember the first name.  She just raved about it.  You flush your sinuses out with a warm saline solution in this pot (turning your head to let it drain out the other side).  I went to work that day, and a co-worker brought it up when I was telling her about my horrible head congestion.  Stupid me, hasn't gone to get one, but she called yesterday and said she was picking one up for me at Wal-Greens (about 10 dollars). She swears by it and uses it every morning.  My congestion has been bad for about 5 months, and my left ear stays stopped up ALL THE TIME!!  It is so bad I talk really soft because it hurts to talk normal.  I can't do anything about my ear, but by doggies I can about my head.  I will try the "pot" thing in a couple of days and tell you how it works.

I had the same problem as you. I felt  like my head was going to burst. I felt so bad it brought back the morning sickness. Oh, what a pretty sight I must have been!!

Anyway my doctor told me to take Tylenol Cold & Sinus (severe congestion) is the whole title I think. But, let me tell after two days I felt like a brand new person. It was great, the medicine never made me sleepy, which is good because I have a hard enough time staying awake anyway. Ask your doctor about it, but it was on my approved list of medicines. I have heard different things about sudafed, so I decided to stay away from that.

I hope you feel better soon!! Keep us posted!!

You may want to see if they can prescribe you something.  Mine have also been bad for a while and they gave me rhinocort (spray) and also singulair which are both safe during pregnancy.  I have found that if I use the rhinocort before bed I can breathe and sleep a little better thru the night.  I just take the singulair when its really bad during the day.  As for the back pain...i'm not sure b/c mine is in a totally different spot but its no fun regardless.

Good Luck!

Afrin is addicting! It should not be used more than 3-5 days max. The more you use it, the more damage it does to the nasal tissue, and in turn it leads to chronic congestion. I suggest you make yourself a salt water solution and snort that (Lol, I know it sounds gross), but it really works. Good luck!
