So stressed!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay my son, Dallas, wa born 10-19-2011, about 2  1/2 weeks early. Of course they did the newborn sreen. He goes in for his first appt and they say that he tested elvated, I guess positive for cystic fibrosis and osovaleric acidemia. So they order another round of test. The doctor didnt seem too concered about it she says shes false positive all the time. But my head hurts from crying today. I have prayed that all his results come back good, and nothing is found.

Ah honey, I'm sorry.  That would be so scary to hear.  But I have also heard that these tests can be funny, and they are more like like a pre screening.  In other words, if it comes up positive, then further testing is required to make sure.  So it's simply a screen, not an actual conclusive test.  You know we are here for you, and I can so understand you being upset.  But I would bet all is fine.  It's pretty rare still.  ((hugs)))

I'm sorry you're having to go thru this, it must be very difficult, try to take heart at what your doctor has said, and hope it is a false positive, in the meantime why dont you do abit of reserch or ask your doctor for some information on what this would mean for your bub and how you would have to manage the situation, then if in the event that you do not have a good result you are fully informed on how to deal with the result, being informed is a powerful tool, and if they do come back positive you will shed more tears for your baby but I'm sure you will love him none the less and be a magnificent mum to your darling boy
