Trisomy 18

Hi
I had a pregnancy when I was 33 years old,  it was my fourth pregnancy and my 3 previous pregnancy's I deliverd all healthy babies.
The fourth pregnancy was trisomy 18, it was a horrible time and I made the choice to terminate the pregnancy, I was wondering if anybody had a trisomy 18 pregnancy and then got pregnant again? I really want another baby but am nearly 37 years old now and I know the risk will be higher but would love to hear how other women have got on.  Any advice would be appreciated

I just want to say how sorry I am you had to go through this.  I didn't personally have this experience, but there have been many women here over the years who have, and the next pregnancy was completely normal.  Don't listen to other people.  You and your husband do what is right for you.  The right number of children is whatever is right for you, and you are far from too old.  I just had a healthy baby at almost 41. Lots of us do.  Good luck in whatever you decide.

Thank you for your comment, my youngest daughter is 5 this year and as I will be 37 this year I really feel like I need to make a decision and my husband wants another baby so maybe its time to try again. I read some of the stories of other women that have gone on to have healthy babies and that is so encouraging.  I will keep in touch it is nice to know I am not the only one going through this and as none of my friends have gone through it sometimes its hard to talk to them, which is not there fault they just dont understand. People keep saying you have enough kids and you have 3 healthy ones why push it but I have wanted 4 children for a long time and the urge is stronger than ever.

Hi. I went through the same thing, my son lived for 51 days before passing. I Know exactly what you're going through. I have talked with several women that have had t18 pregnancies. & had healthy children afterward. Their stories & success are encouraging.  Alot of them got pregnant shortly afterward. Have you visited trisomy 18 foundation? Its a community of people who have been through what we have & are going through what we are now. One forum is specifically for following pregnancies! I wish you luck & no fear! Contact me anytime.
