Ultrasound at 5w6d no Heartbeat - HELP

I had my first ultrasound today at 5w6d, my RE seen the sack and fetal pole, but no heartbeat.  Before he even did the sonogram he told me to not be worried if he didn't see a heartbeat that I was very early.  I'm 40 years old and have had 3 miscarriage and 1 ectopic.  He told me to come back in 1 week.  Do you all think it was too early to see a HB?

Fear not....hearts can start beating in the range of 5-7 wks from all the books and websites Ive been to.  And usually you cant even see them if u dont do a intravaginal u/s you have to wait even longer.  I was only able to see my baby's heartbeat in that time frame because it was done vagnally.  So if sac and everything else looked good Id say EXHALE congrats on your preg and in a week or 2 you will be all smiles.

Same response here as the others gave.  Its just too early.  I am 5 weeks today and not having an u/s until 8 weeks just so I don't worry.  Hang in there, I am sure he was just checking the sac due to your etopic.  Everything will be fine.

too early - usually HB is not seen until 6.5-7 weeks - most doctors won't even do u/s until closer to 8 weeks so you don't freak out over nothing.

I agree...2 early. I had my first one yesterday and they said I just started 6 weeks and all we saw was sac and yolk. No fetal pole. By 8 weeks is when you should start to see/hear things.

It will work out. Congrats and good luck.

If I had been there with this last baby at 5w6d there would have been no hb.  This baby that I'm carrying now had a hb of 89 at 6w1d and I was told to come back in 1 week.  Everything was fine and I deliver next week. Congrats and best of luck to you!
