WHAT TO EAT

Hello Everyone,

OK, here's my issue.  I'm almost 7 weeks pregnant, and will not see the doctor until March 7th.  I have absolutely NO appetite, BUT of course I know I need to eat.  I try eating during the day, well I force myself to eat rather, but I know I'm not eating enough, and I don't want to harm the baby.  I will of course ask the doctor for more advice and even supplements if possible, but at the moment I'm feeling so guilty.  For example, yesterday I bought some shrimp egg foo yun (ms), and I ate on that all day, and that was it.  Friday I ate a piece of fish and a slice of wheat bread, and one small crab cake, and that was it, and again I had to force myself to eat that........what should I do?  I've never had the best eating habits, BUT I'm really trying now that I'm pregnant, but I'm clueless.  Any suggestions, advice, tips, ANYTHING would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

~Nickey~

I really wasn't hungry either, but remember in those first 12 weeks almost all your baby's major organ systems and brain forms--so getting the "good stuff" in is really important. I have a blood disorder, work and have a pre-K son to take care of -- I was exhausted, so I splurged a bit on the food budget.

Try going to someplace like New Seasons or another "natural" food store and buy their fresh soup from the deli. It's usually packed with good veggies and protein and there's 3 or more to choose from--something might sound good. Plus, it will last a few meals. I also bought lots of fresh fruit and made a large bowls of fruit salad--so it was always ready. Pre-washing and pre-cutting veggie sticks is an easy option. Maybe get the ready to eat bags of salad mix and keep a sweet trail mix around for snacking.

Of course I filled in with other things, but I always felt good about making the best effort I could since the staple items I had on hand were good for the baby-- and my son happily munched out the first trimester with me :0)

In my first trimester is the only time I didnt fill I was eating enough, and even then, I think I had my share... smile. but on the days I felt guilty, I would drink a glass of v-8 and THAT was for the baby... eeeew I hate that stuff... just easy to force down.
Good luck to you... Im sure food cravings will come...

I was the same way in my early pg.  I was hardly ever hungry and when I did eat, I got full really easily... BUT I more than made up for it in the later months!!

If you aren't eating a lot, make those calories count and eat good healthy stuff.

Take care, Hannah
