brown bleeding

I'm 16 weeks, and I've been bleeding dark brown since Wednesday.  A moderate amount each day.  Called the doctor when it started, she said brown blood is old and call her if it changes. I had 2 previous instances of bleeding bright red, and each time I had an internal ultrasound, baby is fine.  They checked my cervix and it's good. Placenta is where it should be. I just used the Doppler a few minutes ago and found baby's heartbeat.  I'm not experiencing any cramping or pain.
Does anyone have any ideas at all for me?  It's really very stressful to think that I'm bleeding somewhere and no one knows why.  Even if this brown blood is "old", it had to be fresh at some point.  I just want it to stop.
Thanks

I had some early 1st trimester bleeding.... but nothing since.  I say keep doing what you are doing....and keep following up with your doc on it.  And if everything is fine with your baby I really wouldnt worry too much. :-)

congrats on being in  2 nd trimester.

I too wish I had an answer for you. I bleed up until 16 weeks. Only in the beginning was it bright red (7 weeks) and then brown on and off until 16 weeks. One day it magically stopped. Hang in there and I hope it stops soon.

I wish I had an answer for you.  I too have had an instance of bleeding, and although it seems there all kinds of theories, no one really seems to know for sure why it happens.  I know its quite common in first trimester, not as sure for second trimester.  But if all seems fine with baby, I would try not to worry to much about it (I know, easier said then done).  Some of the theories I have heard have to do with blood vessels in and around the cervix, being that its so soft now.  Also, apparantly quite common after sex, and around the time you would normally get your period.  Again, these are things I have heard for first trimester, I don't know much about second trimester.  I do think your Dr. should have a look though.

I am sure all will be well, and wish you luck.

Take care.
