Keep in mind that if you have given birth before vaginally, it may feel that way a bit even when pregnant.  And I have no idea if soft and squishy has any correlation with effacement or dilation - those are the things that can suggest that delivery is near - but even with that, I know that some women can stay 1 or 2 cm dilated for a few weeks before giving birth - so there is no sure way to know. I would call your doctor tomorrow and check in about this.

I am not a doctor but my understanding is that babies move less right before birth, because they settle down into a birthing position and they are running out of room (at least this is what happened to me).  From what you described, it is hard to tell if you might go into labor soon or not  but I would caution you about self checking, as that can be dangerous (you can introduce bacteria).

My OB did tell me that she finds that most women stop gaining weight or even lose a pound the week before or the week that they go into the labor.

If you are worried, then I would call your doctor- maybe they can move up your appointment.  You might feel better to be reassured.  Hang in there.
