I felt like my heart was beating really hard and fast. My breathing was very rapid and hard. I called my midwife and she sent me to the hospital. They did all kinds of tests and all of those turned out normal. After a few hours of rest and elevating my legs, I had no more crazy respiratory episodes. They said I'm a medical mystery but I was stable. They sent me home with a 24 hour halter monitor to monitor my heart.
I have heard that your heart rate is higher than normal in pregnancy because your heart has to pump blood for two (u and ur baby).
Thank you for the info. I know there is a hormone that pregnant women have an increase of that causes an increase in respirations. My respiratory rate was in the 40s-50s. Which is not normal. And I felt the strain on my heart. I put my feet up to help with blood return to my heart so it wouldn't work so hard. I remembered I didn't drink any free water today. I think dehydration might be the cause. I'm drinking water now so we'll see if that's the answer. I'm doing a little better now after resting.
Sorry...the GP said it was strange and i should contact my gynae
I had it with my first pregnancy for a couple of days. Phoned the gynaecologist and he said its normal. Did not quite believe him till the following week when i was reading my pregnancy book (what to expect when youre pregnant) and it was one of the symptoms for the next month (cant remember if it was month 7 or 8). Was really worried and even went to my GP who said
Oh I think I figured it out. I'm dehydrated. It's hard to self diagnose when you don't feel well.
