partial hysterectomy

My partner has had a partial hysterectomy a few years ago and still has one active ovary which I assume still produces eggs. She has a daughter from her previous marriage, prior to the operation of course. I have no biological children however I do consider her daughter my daughter and always will. I was introduced into my daughter’s life at a later age so I did miss out on a lot of the early years. She was 13 when we first met and I love every minute of being a father to her. However, as my biological clock ticks away I'm finding the urge to have my own child stronger than ever. My partner and I have talked about this and if she had not had the hysterectomy we would try to conceive naturally. We have been talking about adoption which has not been ruled out but we would like to get more information on if it’s possible for us to conceive by collecting her eggs and my sperm then use a surrogate mother to carry the child to term. Does anyone have any suggestions or information that may be useful to us?  Thank you for your feedback

Scott,
If a woman has a partial hysterectomy there is no way she can have more children.  The uterus is gone so there is no place for the baby to live inside of her.   I hate to use a clique but they say with a partial hysterectomy they take the crib but the playpen remains. I am sorry about the situation.  However there is a chance that she is still ovulating from the ovary and maybe eggs could be taken from her and you could maybe find a surragate woman to help you.  I wish you both the best and I applaude you for loving her daughter as you do.  She is a lucky little girl and you are a very lucky man to find two women to love you  so much.  joyshow

I'm pretty sure you can. If there is still an ovary, eggs should be able to be collected. Your best bet is to have a consult with an RE, Reproductive Endocronologist. They can lay out all the odds and your best route as well as $$$. Good luck to both of you!
