vaccines

Hi ladies, I'm skeptical about which vaccines I want my baby to get. After extensive research in still unsure. I've limited the vaccines I'm allowing for my other 4 daughters, they are much older and I was very young when I had them and followed ask the doctors orders without question. More that I'm older (and more educated) I question everything... I'm 26 weeks. Due first week of February.

What are you all going to do?

Please vaccinate if your child can be. My little 3 year old can not have all her vaccines yet due to health issues. I count on herd protection to help keep her safe till her cardiologist and other doctors say it is safe for her to receive the rest if them. You can spread them out more if you want. It is not just your child you are protecting.

Which state do you live in?  If you plan on having your kids in public schools then restricting vaccines or having them on your own schedule might gender their access to public schools.  My oldest for some reason had one of her Hep-B shots a month too early and the CDC nurse caught it & would not allow her to return to school until my daughter had all own other booster. It was a pain in my $!@%!

Check vactruth.com for some input on vaccines. If you can, read dr. Mouldens article "what you were never told about vaccines"

You can also check vaccine-injury.info and look up dr. Mouldens investigation founding evidence that vaccines can cause strokes

Yes, and dont allow someone to push their ideas on you. I have friends that are for and against vaccines and will argue about it for hours. I see both sides, but to be honest, vaccines are the lesser of two evils. I would rather protect my child than risk exsposing them to diseases out there even if they are unlikely.

Sounds like you are doing your best to make an educated decision on such an important decision.  My advice while doing your research is to check the source prior to reading the article. There are a ton of opinion based or biased articles out there that have not been properly researched. They can often scare you into making a rash decision. Parenting is tough and these types of choices don't make it any easier.

The last thing I ever want to do is watch my child die of a preventable disease.  People use to DIE from these. Maybe you are willing to put your kids life out on a limb,  not me.

People take for granted the wonderful protection vaccines provides.  Can you imagine in past eras wondering if your child would get something like polio?  I believe doctors take an oath to do no harm and vaccines would not be widely given if they were not of great benefit to our children.  We are seeing a resurgence of some diseases that were all but eradicated come back due to those opting out of vaccines.  I also think that it makes issues harder with things like public school.  Our school checks what vaccines kids have had.  So, there is no link proven link between autism and vaccines (and boy did they try hard to prove that)---  so, to me (as an educated woman as well), the research indicates that vaccines are safe and should be given per the recommended schedule by the CDC.  good luck

I am a nurse and the mother of three with one on the way. Vaccines are vital to reduce some really horrible diseases. We owe the health of ourselves and our children to the fact that these vaccines have been utilized.

Agree with everything that was said above... My children will be vaccinated as per the doctors instructions! I was fully vaccinated and I keep up to date with any boosters needed and flu shots every year and I am fine. I do not know anyone who has had a negative affect to being vaccinated. My mum is a nurse in a doctors surgery for 30 years and never has one of their patients had a negative reaction! My friends baby girl however coughs whooping cough before she could be vaccinated. Her little body was so sick, she almost died! My little brother caught measles before her was vaccinated he to this day has some health issues as a result. I believe it is foolish to NOT vaccinate your children.. Imagine living 70 years ago where these diseases were so common and so many died (my grandfathers sister died of polio as a child), well by not vaccinating you are opening the doors for these terrible illnesses to return!

My perspective: If there was an Ebola or HIV vaccine available that was safe and had been tested on animals then many humans would you use it on your child? (If Ebola had reached your shores).  Well then why not vaccinate against measles (horrible disease leaving children disabled) or meningococcal-C, and all the other diseases that now should be preventable?
Changing the schedule is a luxury that middle class mothers can use to make themselves feel in control but probably makes no difference in reality. Hopefully your child doesn't get one of the diseases in the interim.
I would also keep children away from unvaccinated kids who have viral illnesses until they are completely better.  Vaccines aren't 100%effective and as herd-immunity dwindles we could sadly see a surge in these diseases.
Be careful where you get your "education" as there are some very strong minded people with odd opinions on the Internet.

Talk to your pediatrician.  My boys have had all of there vaccines just not at the same time. My pediatrician allowed me to only have 1 live vaccine at a time. They just had to go back in 30 days for the next shot.

By getting vaccines we are responsible for stopping the spread of awful diseases and illnesses. Imagine if everyone said they weren't getting the vaccines then the health system would be in meltdown! Say in 20yrs time, there's an Ebola vaccine for everyone and Ebola's almost completely gone, and you hear of people starting to refuse. And you can remember the panic and sadness from today and how fast these diseases can spread. My 2 sons had all the vaccines and they are healthy intelligent 14 and 17yr olds as are their friends. I'm getting all the vaccines. But everyone's entitled to their own decision but I thought I'd put some perspective on it.

I'm actually planning on getting a Tdap booster while I'm pregnant so the baby gets benefits from that because I live in a place where there's a lot of religious people that don't vaccinate their children

I'd recommend reading Dr. Sears vaccine book.  Lots of good information on all vaccines and an alternative vaccine schedule you could follow if you wish.

Yes, or look up children who have gotten polio. Its terrible. Ill go with the vaccines that are recommened. I dont like putting chemicals in my body or my childs that are not needed, but 99% of these are needed in my opinion.

I have worked for the last decade with Autistic children. And can tell you first hand that children who have never  been vaccinated still get autism. I suggest you read up on current studies and research on vaccinations. Also read up on the effects that have come about just in the past few years, from parents not vaccinating their children and how the return of measles and mumps is at a high because of it. I take itnyour other children are thriving despite you vaccinating them. So why the change?

Your baby should get whatever vaccines they recommend. Vaccines do not cause autism and they prevent disease. Mumps and measles are now making a come back because people are not getting their children vaccines. Vaccines are recommended for a reason...to prevent disease and to save children from dieing from these diseases.
