very sad...

I just went to the doctor today for an u/s and all he could see was a misshapen sac. It is measuring 5w4d, could it be too early for him to see? He said my uterus is so retroverted it is hard to see what is inside it. This very thing happened to me 4 years ago when I was just pregnant with my daughter. They saw a misshapen sac in the doc's office and went to radiology and they found a h/b! So, because of my history, he is sending me to radiology today at 2. I will update you all with what happens. Thanks for listening. Has this happened to anyone else and have it be a viable pg?

I had my first u/s at 5w4d and I thought it should be 6w2d. There was a sac and a very tiny heartbeat. Two weeks later there was no heartbeat and I had a m/c 2 days later. I think under 6 weeks it's hard to tell where a pregnancy will end and therefor I won't have an u/s before the 8th week next time

That's great.  I wonder why they even bother doing ultrasounds before at least 6 or 7 weeks.  All it does is freak people out.

Good luck to you.

Oh YAY... that is great news.. I agree with Kellym, early u/s seem to cause a lot of unnecessary stress.  I'm am SO glad this is working out well.

Take care and congrats!!

They didn't see anything with my ultrasounds until 6wks 3 days, so I'm glad yours was the same scenario. I'm 15wks 1 day and still cookin' along.

Well, you were all right. 5w is too early to see anything, now that I am 6 w and had the radiologist look around today, she found a yolk sac and a heartbeat! I am elated and ecstatic. I thought for sure it was a no go. I go back in a week to check the progress. Thanks for the support! Kim

Ugh, that's why they should wait until at least 6 weeks. It is early and I wish you the best!!

5wks is really early.  There is plenty of time for things to turn around.  Best of luck to you.. I hope it works out.

5 weeks may be too early to see a baby in an ultrasound. I had emergency ovarian surgery when my youngest was only 3 weeks along. My doctor knew I was pregnant but we could not see the baby yet. I had an ultrasound and blood tests every week to check on her until we could finally see her around 6-7 weeks. Good luck!   (14w1d)

i had only a yolk sac at 6 weeks, they said the sac measured 5 weeks.  went back in another week and had a heartbeat.  i kept measuring a week behind until my 12 week ultrasound, then it was measuring right with my Last missed period date.

as far as mis shapen sacs, my sac is pretty odd too, kind of like a fluffy banana.  I also did a google search for ultrasound pictures, and everyone's sacs look different,
so who really knows what the 'ideal' sac is supposed to look like.

the yolk sac was a perfect circle though, (not sure if thats the one he meant as mis-shapen).

please tell us how the readiology appointment went. stephanie (14 weeks today)
