11 weeks, no heartbeat detected via doppler. Help and Advise please!!

Hi everyone...

I know I already asked, but now I am really freaked out. I have spoken to a few more people about the fact that my Dr. couldn't find a heartbeat last Monday at my appointment w/ the doppler. Dr. reassured me that is it quite common and he didn't seem too concerned, you guys reassured me as well, well... TODAY someone I know very well told me the same thing happened to her at 10 weeks, and she had a m/c?!! Anyone know why they can't detect/find a heartbeat? I am freaking out and don't have another dr. appointment until next Thursday..

We didn't hear ours at 12 weeks.  When they did an ultrasound to be sure they determined they couldn't hear becuase of the way the placenta was.  Again at 18 weeks they had a hard time finding it - I freaked out!!  After about 10 minutes of searching she finally found it at 18 weeks.  Again it was becuase of how my placenta was.  My placenta has now moved and they don't have any troubles.

Yeah, so weird your doc even tried to find a heartbeat that early. And that's probably why your friend didn't hear a heartbeat at 10 weeks (too early). Don't freak out or get yourself worked up. It's not uncommon, even later in pregnancy.

Your uterus is still below your pubic bone thats why they cant hear anything, I was a little over 11 weeks before my midwife found mine and she had to really hunt it, but after that it was no problem......

I heard that it is really hard to find until after 12 wks.  The baby is still really small.  My midwife didnt use the doppler until I was about 14 weeks.  AT a 10 week appointment she did an u/s, because knew the chances of her finding it were low and she didnt want me to freak out....I was a really annoying paranoid pregnant person and would hound them all the time.  So if your Dr cant find it at your next appointment ask him if he can do an u/s.  Try to not freak out about it...I dont know why they even try if there is a chance they cant hear it...it only makes you worry!  So just relax...there is really nothing you can do until Thursday.  And I am sure your baby is bouncing around inside you right now!
