38WK 2DAYS, SWOLLEN FEET AND ANKLES

Hey Ladies,

So my due date is only 12 days away and I am scheduled for my elective induction, 6 days from today.  Getting excited.

Anyway, yesterday I noticed a lot of swelling in my feet and ankles.  I mean, they look like I'm 80 years old!!!  I know that some swelling at this point and in this hot Texas summer can be very normal.  It's never happened to me before delivery.  With 2, I have had some after delivery but not before.  I try elevating my feet as much as I can but it's hard with so many kids to take care of.  I still have things that have to be done.  I was just at the doctor 2 days ago and assume my urine was normal for protein, because he didn't say otherwise.  Even after sleeping and having my feel elevated for several hours, I still have the swelling.  Do you think this is still fine?

I know what I would tell anyone else on here.  I would tell you to put a call in to your doc just incase, which I have done.  I left a message for the nurse but didn't call the emergency line, so I am waiting to hear back, and just thought I would see what you all have to say.  Thanks!

Yuck! I was in FL and had my son in July, the last month or so I couldn't wear any rings, and I looked like a balloon...had to buy new shoes cause my feet were so big. Keep your feet up when you can, and water water water!!! I get the same way actually any time cause I was like that with Aubryana and she was born the first week of Dec. I retain a lot of water in the end..

My face looks swollen but my mom said its normal so idk. I have been told that I look very pale. Which I have no clue if it even means anything. Does it?!

I think I'm going to the labor and delivery later today just to get check because I still feel tingly. I have been drinking A LOT of water and I'm staying out of the heat (I live in tucson arizona) its very hot here. This might be TMI but I have the Runs as well. I'm pretty sure I am not dehydrated but you never know.

Michelle, I'm glad to hear your okay. :)

Everytime I go to my OB they don't even check my swelling my last appointment was monday but since then the swelling has been a lot worse. My wedding band doesn't fit me anymore and sometimes I feel numb/tingly. I do get really really bad headaches every single day. They are so bad and my vision is blurry as well.
The thing I so know is my BP is always normal when I get checked. Do you think I should still call my OB right now. I know its always better to be on the safe side but I just don't want them to think I am over reacting.

Thanks Lisa.

marisol, you should def mention this to your doctor.  Look up symptoms of pre-eclampsia.  Swollen feet AND hands are symptoms of this.  Plus the discoloration is def worth mentioning.  If I had more symptoms, I'd be more concerned but I just have what I mentioned.  I would def put a call into your doc and at least see what they say.  Also watch to see if you have headaches and/or blurred vision.  Any and all of these symptoms can be symptoms/signs of pre-eclampsia.

My doc office just called back and said that as long as my BP is fine, I should be okay.  It is really hot here, which I know.  But I haven't gone outside in 2 days...not for anything.  I am staying w/ a nurse right now.  She very well may have a blood pressure cuff around here somewhere but I will ask her when she comes back from work.  So for now, I think I am okay.
