6 hours of sleep....WOOHOO!

Well Conner started getting uneasy and cranky at around 5pm. I had hubby take care of him from 5-6pm so I could make dinner. My mom came and got the older boys lastnight for a slumber party and church today. I gave Conner a bath at 7pm, and he did okay...I was more nervous lol. Then we gave him a bottle...and tried to entertain him...but all he did was cry this horrible blood curdling cry. He cried so hard his umbilical stump came out and he bled really bad. I put vaseline on it like I was told and the bleeding stopped. My poor baby cried for almosy 5 hours straight...he was so upset he was sweating and couldnt catch his breath. SO.....I broke down and gave him the Nutramigen Colic formula. And then rubbed lavender baby lotion all over him. And he fell asleep. He slept from 10pm to 2am, woke up, had a diaper change, fed him the nutramigen, and he went back to sleep. He then woke up at 6am, and did the same routine...diaper and bottle, and he has been asleep with daddy ever since.

I really hope that this formula continues to work for him, he seems so much happier, and can actually be awake and be a happy baby instead of being in pain.

Im still however a bit concearned about his pee pee....so I made an appointment on monday. He has some kind of green goop on it.....but it isn't oozing and he isn't running a fever, so we will see. I cleaned it with warm water and a cotton ball lastnight in his bath, and added the A&D ointment, and it looks a little bit better, but im still worried.

His Jaundice is also almost all gone! I can't believe my little man is almost a week old already. I wish they stayed this little for a while longer than they do lol.

BTS~ With his peepee, You need to gently clean away the "green goop" with a cottonball or Qtip because that's discharge and a sign that infection may be starting. Get some triple antibiotic ointment and apply a little to him.  don't use soap, however use some sort of gentle cleanser that won't burn if you had an open cut on you..

check him for fever and if he has one give him some infant tylenol drops. For a baby under two at 6lbs you want to go to the 0.4 line or slightly above it if he weighs more than that.

This should be enough to get you thru the rest of the weekend! hope it helps

Sleep is WONDERFUL!  Yay!  Make sure you give the Nutramigen two full weeks to decide if it's working or not.  It can take that long for the milk proteins in his body to leave and for the nutramigen to be in full effect.  Hopefully this will be what works for him!  :)

Also keep reflux in mind...you do NOT have to spit up to have reflux.  In fact, the babies with "silent reflux" (no spitting) have the burn twice as bad b/c it hurts on the way up and then back down when they swallow it or it doesn't make it all the way up.  :(  I'm not saying you have to take action or anything...the non stop crying was just a red flag for me.

Hope you have a great day!
