After baby

I'm really eager to get back in shape. I know to wait as long as my doctor says to work out, but when I get the okay I really want to do what I can to not only lose the weight but tone everything as well. So how do you get like a exercise routine and everything with a newborn, I feel like I won't have time to go to the gym. And I'm going to breast fee so hopefully that helps.

I went swimming at my sisters gym before Christmas when i went to visit and that was the best i felt since being pregnant! Lol very energetic for a bit then relaxed and slept well that night im going to start swimming here a couple of times a week and try to not be jealous of everyone in the hot tub lol

My doctor told me swimming is a great exercise during pregnancy cause it works everything and takes all the weight off you. And for back pain it really does help if you stretch, it's done wonders for me.

You ladies inspire me. I think I might try to go to the ymca here to swim at least. I went swimming a few weeks ago at a hotel and it was the first time ever that I felt totally relaxed and not nauseous since being pregnant. I think the baby liked it(:

Theres also a good selection of post partum shape wear that you wear during the day to help things slim back down its a lot like a belly band while you're pregnant i read it really helps feel better with c sections i plan on breast feeding walking swimming at my gym and wearing a band during the day when i go out to the store or something

@rosey actually, if you worked out before you got pregnant, you can still keep up the same routine during pregnancy. i played racquetball religiously before pregnancy, and continued during(: i may be a little slower, but i still play.

This post and responses have made my night!  I am too excited now!  I have literally cried from looking at my pre-pregnancy pictures.  I was never "tiny" but I wore size 8 and 9 in jeans and now I cant even fit into size 16.. I felt as though I would never fit into my 8-9's again!

Me too! Definitely going to be hard for me, 2 kids, one in school, but I'll take one to school, put the other down for a nap if she will and use that time, or take them outside. Definitely breastfeeding. I gained over 40lbs with my first pregnancy, and ended up getting below my prepregnancy weight within 2 weeks just breastfeeding, no difference in routine or eating, it's all how your body responds, hopefully mine does that again!

I already told hubby that as soon as I'm all healed up, when he gets home, I'm going to the gym after I get some breast milk for baby in the fridge. I plan on doing probably 40 minutes of cardio then legs and back one day, arms and shoulders the next and ABS EVERY DAY! But keep in mind, there's A LOT you can do at home. Yoga, exercises with an exercise ball, arm strengthening, etc. Besides, holding a baby al day will tone your arms anyways(:

Yeah there's no snow here but it's to cold to go walk, so I've been doing squats and stretches. And I'm worried I'm going to be to tired to actually work out when he's here.

I'm really eager too! I know I can't really go to the gym and whatnot while I'm pregnant, and everyone is telling me to just walk but I live in Michigan and its below freezing with snow and ice on the ground!! So I guess after baby ill try some of these things! I used to have the Wii fit, it is actually kinda fun and really is a workout! And also tells you how many calories you burn and keeps track of your weight and activity.

I just found out y gym has a nursery for while you're working out, so I think I'll do that a couple times a week and go for walks with the baby, and try some yoga stuff at home. I used to be not a twig but skinny and a size 3 so I realllllly wanna get back to that. I get depressed lookin at all my pants I don't fit into. I've gained like 40 lbs!

I gained about 80 pounds & I didn't do much but breastfeed & walk everywhere. I was able to lose it all after 7 months . I went to 110 it seemed forever . But I didn't really eat healthy or anything . With thisbbaby I want to lose weigh asap . I have only gained 5 pounds & I'm 19 weeks but I feel so ughhhh !

I was thinking about that also. I also have a 4 year old and my mom can keep an eye on my daughter anytime after 5 (except tuesdays) and there is a YMCA right up the street from me who has free childcare while you are there. Ive also been looking into going to anytime fitness that way I could take baby with me when my daughter is in preschool but I'm kinda leery of him being there.

Breastfeeding helps a ton! You can get just as much out of a workout with resistance bands at home as you can at the gym. Try out power 90 from beach body as long as your doc says you're ready :)
