This is weird ...my mother had a cat when she had my older sister and the cat would tell my mother when shes crying! !! The cat took an interest in making sure the baby was ok!! Im not hearing none of u speak on it.  I guess we get lucky with our animals

You don't need to get rid of your cats! If your an animal lover like me getting rid of your fur babies would be impossible! Of course if my cats were causing harm to my little one on the way I'd have to change living arrangements but I wouldn't just give them away! I've spoken to my doctor and she said have pets, in my case cats, is completely okay! Of course you shouldn't let your cat smoother your little one or be in there face but who would you let? You need to be careful with your new born baby at all times, no different from making sure they are safe in bed, or making sure visitors are handling your baby right. Just take care of your baby as you would and you will be okay. Some people take things to extreme measures and it's not necessary. Good luck to everyone!

My cat's love snuggling as close to as they can when it's cold whether it's my face or not but they've been around babies that were as young as 2-3months and never showed interest in being near them they won't go in play pens or swings or anything. I guess it just depends on the cat...

My cat tries to lay on my face everytime i let her in the bedroom at night. She does it for the heat when its cold and she likes to be near my face it goes both ways ladies. Im sure they are interested in the smell of milk and babies do loose their breath easily anyway but like in the winter when its cold cats will sit on anything warm even someones face for their warm breath and unlike adults and older children babies cant push them off.

Hmm that's so weird I've never heard anything like this. I have a cat and he NEVER got anywhere near my daughter when I brought her home. But then again he knew we didn't like him on the bed or the couch he would listen. He did sleep in the baby's bouncer once and that was it I washed it & if I saw him try to lay on it I would snap at him and he wouldn't go on it again. Now that she's 5 months he does come near her at times just smells her and walks away no interes in her whatsoever very rare if he comes near her. If your cats like that I wouldn't let him in the house or room at all. I just wouldn't risk it, my baby over a pet any day!

Actually much friends puppy almost suffocate the baby because he too like the smell an taste of milk an after she fed her daughter he wanted to lick it off an almost took her breath away, I'd say watch with all animals just in case you never know. I've had a cat who was so mean any new baby he seen he'd try to sit on there heads like wtf cat we eventually got rid of him, he was a mini serial killer I swear never met such an evil cat.

I'm pregnant with my second: ) and I have 2 cats as well. Sense ny sin is 3 they so end most of there time running away from him unless he is asleep then they try sleeping in his face. My husband saw them do it to be as well. Babies are just scary to raise in the first place, the extra stress from cats just aren't needed. I say just keep them out of the bedroom

Nothing against any ladies that have cats but I would definitely get rid of the cat I wouldn't take any chances at all with my baby plus you don't need the stress on worrying where the cat is or if it will get at the baby hope I didn't offend anyone.

That's not it at all, its called that cus when the baby is sleeping its creating ALOT of heat at cats love heat so they curl up on there face where it's nice and warm and suffocate them hens" stealing a babies breath". The baby is to younger to move its head. As ling as if you keep the cats or cat out of the babies room or around where they sleep your baby will be fine. I have 2 cats so I looked it up when I first heard about this

So preventative measures if u have a cat would definitely be to watch ur baby at all times if u have pets around.

They say cats like the smell of babies milk so sometimes they get curious and want to lick babies mouth. It can be risky if cat is there in babies mouth which could smother baby.
