Anyone have a breech baby?

I went for my 34 week appointment today and based on where my dr. heard the heartbeat and where I have been feeling kicks most often he felt the need to do an ultrasound. Well sure enough the u/s showed that my little guy in in breech position. He said we will do another u/s in 2 weeks and if he still is breech I will have to go to the hospital to have him manually turn the baby. I asked him if it hurts and he said "YES" so now I am scared to say the least.
He gave me some tips on ways to lay to encourage that baby to turn on his own so I hope they work.

Have any of you had a breech baby this late in pregnancy that ended up turning at the last minute or have any of you had your baby turned manually? I am so worried. Is there any risk to turning the baby?

From what I have read the only appropriate time to do a version is at 37 weeks, that way you are full term if anything does go wrong. Any later than 37 weeks there is not enough fluid in the womb to move the baby. Honestly, I wouldn't mind going into labor right after my dr. does it, I kinda hope I do.

I read many cases where the baby turns by himself at 39 weeks...I know docs prefer to do this procedure right before the labor and if anything goes wrong, you will have a c-section the same day. I read many comments, some women say it is very painful and some say it is not..but I think it is worth trying!

I think only like 3% don't flip by 38 weeks. Mine ended up being breech and I had to get her turned at 38 weeks it didn't hurt at all, maybe a little uncomfortable because you feel pressure but not painful in the least. Everyone told me it was going to hurt SO bad and blah blah blah and then it was kinda let down that it didnt since I had built the whole thing up so dramatically in my head. But honestly if you have to get the version done it really doesn't hurt. Oh and the good thing is 2 days after the version and 1 car accident later my water broke and I ended up delivering. Up until that moment I thought I was going to be late. I hear that a lot of people that get the version end up going into labor shortly after it.

I haven't found anything about a baby being sideways, though---so i wonder what is up with my kiddo.  she's got her head on my left side and her butt on my right.  the breech positions i've read about do not include this one... bleah.

Mine flipped on his own right at about 36 weeks.  I knew immediately when he had too, It was a weird feeling.  Don't worry right away.  I've heard that lying with your bum and legs elevated can help.

I hope your right nicmom (flipping at the last minute) I so badly do NOT want a c-section and I dont want to deliver a breech baby vaginally lol.

I had a girl friend who had her baby turned at 38 weeks and he stayed head down. She said it wasn't that bad mostly uncomfortable.

Mine flipped on his own at 35 weeks. I hear they can flip all the way up until the last minute so dont' worry just yet. Good luck!

At least I will be 37 weeks by then so if something does go wrong can can deliver him right there. My doctor said he has done it hundreds of times and that it is no biggie but it still worries me.

My sister had to have her son turned, and he didn't stay that way, he flipped right back around. She also said  it was VERY painful, and they have to keep a close eye on the H/B to make sure there's not a problem with the cord or rupturing the membrane. I hope your baby turns on it's own before then. I thought this whole time mine was breech and it turns out he's not, he's just been punching my lower abdomen a lot I guess!

I was watching a show on Discovery Health the other day, and they were talking about turning a breech baby.  Not only was it painful, but  generally there isn't a high rate of success with it.  Even if they turn the baby, many times it will just turn right back.  It also has a risk of rupturing the membranes.  I'm sure that there are times it works, and I hope that is the case with you.  I've read a few ideas to try to turn it on your own, but can't remember off the top of my head.  Try googling turning a breach baby.  Good luck!
