Baby Girl Names!

So some of you know that I was keeping the gender a secret from hubby and family/friends. I only told 2 close friends and my midwife, and well, it has finally slipped out and hubby knows we are having a girl! lol oh well! He is not upset at all and now that he knows, my sister-in-law is planning a baby shower for me! Yay!! :) I have nothing girly in my house so this will be nice! We were going to have a shower after the baby arrived, but then I was thinking about it, and didn't want that many people around and wanting to hold her and whatnot, so I'm kinda glad it slipped out so now I can hopefully have a shower before she arrives...as long as she stays put and doesn't try to come early. ;)
We agree on the first name Lydia for sure, but as for middle names we are not sure. Hubby says he has something in mind, but won't share it with me until she is born! But here are some ideas. He originally wanted to name her Rebekah, but I said no because I know too many Rebekahs and I wanted something unique (but not rare) and not overused. So I told him I may be able to settle for Lydia Rebekah, but I'm still a little iffy about it.

Rose- just sounds really pretty
Mae- was my grandmother's middle name
Christina- is my middle name
So these 2 middle names would have a lot of meaning, but I'm not too sure about them....
What do you all think??

vacuumprincess~~ yea, I really like the sound of Lydia Rose, it's definitely my favorite. :)
I would only use Mae because of it's meaning. Only one of my grandmother's had a middle name so it would have meaning.  Lydia Rebekah is NOT at the top of my list, that was to satisfy hubby...haha but I really hope that's not the name he is attached to. I will have to mention Chirstine as a middle name to hubby and see what he thinks. It would be neat for her to carry a part of my name in some way.

I definitely agree though that one syllable for a middle name flows better with Lydia.

trying~~ Olydia...that's too funny but I'm sure would be annoying!!

My daughter's name is Lydia Jean, and I know Jean is plain but both DH Mom and my Mom's middle name is Jean so it meant something to us.  She is 5 now and she loves her name.  I like both Mae and Rose.  I like one syllbil with Lydia.  Only problem is kids her own age call her Olydia, I think bc there are so many Oliva's out there.  It drives me nuts!  I know they are just little but jeez it is not that hard to say.

I went with Lydia Rose.  sounds pretty.

Mae is a fine middle name, but it is so common.  kinda the type of middle name that you use when you don't know what else to put in there.

Lydia Christina sounds a bit off with both names ending with an A.  Maybe Lydia Christine??

Lydia rebecka???  ehh.  ok   (think I spelled it wrong)

I do like Lydia.  nice.  not too common, but not weird.  Classy.  There wont be a Ton of Lydia's in her class at school & its not trendy.  my kind of name.

Thanks everyone!! :) Yea, I'm so anxious to hear what hubby wants as a middle name...like I want to know NOW!! haha Hopefully when he springs it on me after I give birth I won't just say yes to something I don't like just because I am so tired or something silly like that. lol ;)

I say let hubby choose the middle name that way you both share part in naming baby and no one doesn't feel left out:-)

I voted Lydia Mae...my sister's name is Lydia and my middle name is Mae (after my great grandmother), so I am very bias in this situation! LOL

I voted for Rose. I think it sounds the best together. Such a pretty name. That would drive me crazy if my husband didn't tell me the name he's thinking of!! LOL

I have to say, Lydia Rose has been the name I wanted for a long time, even before my second son was born.  BUT I also love Lydia Mae as well since Mae was my grandmother's middle name.  My husband wanted Rebekah so bad as a first name and then thought of it as a middle name, but I don't think it flows with the "a" ending after Lydia like most of you said. Yea, adding my middle name was a last thought and honestly, not sure I like the idea plus it does sound goofy!! haha

Angela,    Christine could be a good idea, gets rid of the a at the end, but it is still very close to my middle name!

jtaylor, I know what you mean. That's why I was really happy to hear my SIL wanted to plan a shower and I just thought, why not have it before she gets here since I can't go out and get anything. Hopefully she just cooperates and waits to arrive until after June 11th. ;)

I think it's gonna be a toss up between Rose and Mae....I told hubby Mae was in the lead right now and he's like, so, I don't want to know. LOL MEN!! He won't give me any ideas as to what middle name he likes best!! grrrr The suspense is killing me. (I have a feeling he will settle with Rose or Mae though because he knows how much I really like those names)

How about Lydia Christine?  It's a take on your middle name and then both names don't end in "a" and it seems to flow a little easier than two three-syllable names.  The one syllable middle names are both cute, too.  I'm big on the syllable thing - lol - I wanted my daughter to have a 2 syllable first name (we finally agreed on Camille), my middle name Ann, and our last name is also 2 syllables.  I thought that worked the best.  So, that was my objective in our baby name search.  I know, I'm goofy.  Well, best of luck - whichever name you pick will be the right one! :-)

I like Lydia Mae and Lydia Rose. When I said the names out loud the ones ending in "a" sounded odd since Lydia has the same ending. I do love all of the names, it just didn't sound as good as those two. I think Lydia Rose is my favorite though!

I like mae goes really good with Lydia when I was choosing names this time I left the hubby choose since I picked our two year olds name and I have to say he did good we are naming her Avery morgann congrats on getting a shower. I know I am not having one this time which I kinda miss the idea seeing is it would have been helpful even of it was people shopping with our money seeing as I can't go out to get her anything. Luckily we have saved all the big things just none of the clothes but things should work themselves out I hope

Thanks Nicole! I like Mae too, but hubby isn't so keen on it. He is a hard one to please with names!! =P
I am excited that I will have a baby shower now. We plan on announcing the gender in the invitations, so it's still hush hush on FB for now. Will probably officially be out within 2-3 weeks. I just hope she doesn't decide to come before June 11th!!
