Bean shape bicornuate utuers mild or severe? Risk for 5months preterm? 14 weeks now.

Ive had 3 ultrasounds and only 1 said i had a bicornuate uterus but he drew it more like a bean, is that a mild case? he discharged me quickly so he didnt give me much info. He told me to go to another hospital because they dont specialize in pregnancies. Could the ultrasound been wrong? I saw the baby and heard the heartrate at 141 bpm at 7 weeks pregnant. They didnt mention a bicornuate. I am now on my 14th week. Am i at high risk for preterm at 5 months with this type of utuers? They said the baby was in the upper left horn part. Thanks for the support!

Yeah ive heard of your condition thats really hard for the baby to grow into. But doc suck to begin with and he didnt tell me anything, he was hardly around and then let me go. He did draw it for me and it to me looked like a bean shape or slightly heart shaped. Maybe he cant draw lol I will hopefully find out soon. Thanks for the support!

Hi i have a bicornuate uterus and i was told when i went for my scan. This was 9 years ago. My uterus as a septum right through the middle making a wall my son was in my right side of the uterus. i was told that he would come early and he did he was born when i was 25 weeks and 5 days pregnant. yours dosent sound anything like mine. i had my septum removed last year had have had two miscarriages since. dont know if it has anything to do with the septum being removed or not. I would go and find someone who knows about bicornuate uterus you might have to look really hard because they are hard to find. I think your be fine because i know someone who had two pregnancies with the same uterus as yours. good luck. kelly x

I'm going to agree that if the first place didn't specialize in pregnancy, chances are high he might be wrong.  However, the fact they pinned it down to "the baby is in the upper left horn" of the uterus is pretty specific.

If you have any type of abnormality of the uterus, you have a higher chance of preterm labor.

You should definately ask when you get your next ultrasound.  Tell them of your dilemma, that you had one that seemed to suggest it, and others didn't.   You might also tell your OB you would like one high risk consult with a perinatologist, just to be sure.

the bicornuate was found at 5 weeks then I went to a different hospital at 7 weeks when they saw the baby and the heartbeat but didnt mention a bicornuate uterus. I forgot to ask (i was so excited i didnt even think about it) I would of thought they would of mentioned it. But i didnt think an ultrasound can give a fasle positive. I know they can give a false negative on something. Well i have an ultrasound in a few weeks i think. I will find out wed in the appoinment. I just have the feeling im going to be early. My mother almost had my brother at 5 months but they stitched her up and gave her meds to stop contractions then he ended up a 10 pound baby lol So im hopeing everything will be ok. I will keep posting on everything. Im also concerned about a missed miscarry but im growing fast, still not round though just looks fat lol

I would go to a different hospital, because if it was a hospital that doesn't specialize in pregnancies and they told you this, they could be wrong.  Get a second opinion and go from there.  What they would probably do if this was the case, as soon as you hit 5 months go on bedrest in the hospital to make sure you don't deleiver!  So definately get a second opinion!!!  :)

Always safer than sorry.  Because at 5 months, if you have the baby, I mean it is possible for the baby to survive, but it's going to be extremely hard on you emotionally and physically, and finacially!  Keep us posted, because now it makes me worry a little about you!  Hang in there and I am going to stress on getting that second opinion, please do it!

I have a history of pre-term labor at 6 weeks early, so I know the stress that follows it!  PLEASE DO IT!
