Between devil and deep sea-UTI

Hi,                                                                                                                                                                       I am 7 weeks pregnant and have been diagnosed with urinary tract infection. I have no symtoms at all like fever, back pain, pain during urinating. I have been advised to take antibiotics amoxillion, but I am scared to death to take antiobiotics since it may cause risk for the fetus especially in the early development stage. If I dont take medication, there is slight risk of miscarriage and pre-mature delivery. Dont know what to do at this stage. I have been drinking tonnes of barley water, cranberry juice and regular water. But the infection is still not gone. Is it absolutley necessary to take antibiotics or can I forgo it? My aunt had UTI 30 years back during her pregnancy and she said she never took any antibiotics. And she had healthy kids..

Amoxicillin is a Class B drug and doesn't hurt a baby. (or not expected) It's very safe to take. You never want to just ignore things, and while pregnant your chance of a UTI is more increased. Take them, it'll help. If you ever have future concerns though, speak to your doctor. They'll never give you anything that's going to do anything bad to your baby.

I had a UTI when I was pregnant with my first. I literally had a couple days that I tinkled on myself because the pain was so bad. If I were you I'd really look into using the antibiotics because any infection can be riskier to your baby. Good Luck. I hope you don't get any symptoms.
