Breast Milk? Please help!!!!

So this is for women that already have children. I feel as if my breast milk is starting to go away and I just want to cry. My baby is only 12 days old and I really wanna be able to breast feed her for the initial first six weeks and even farther on. What did you guys eat to help keep your milk supply up so you didn't have to worry bout it drying up?

Honestly that early i thought i had less milk to but it was only becayse my breasts settled and werent engorged anymore :)

I just put my little guy on more often to increase also spinach is supposed to work and there is a recipe on the net for lactation cookies :)

I hope you can continue :) my little guy is 15months and we are just stopping. It can be a ruff ride but so very worth it :)

I pumped while I fed, I fed out of one breast and pumped out of the other so my body was kind of being tricked. It worked great of me. I also was in school and would pump in my car during breaks and j would get anywhere from 4-8oz every few hours.

Well I went to my Walmart today and bought the last two bottle of fenugreek that they had and took one already. It says to preferably take it with a meal but im not sure if thats a must. Plus I started drinking alot of extra water. Hopefully this really starts to help.

Hi there congratulations on your little bundle of joy:) I have also heard that ice water (bottle of water that's been frozen and started melting) is very good. As well as milkstout (beer) but I would definitely contact my midwife or lactation specialist first.

Good luck.
P's let me know what works as I am expecting my first in October:)))

When I feel like my supply is getting low I eat oatmeal for breakfast every morning, drink 3-4 mugs of Mothers Milk tea, and up how much I'm eating and drink in general. Your supply is based on demand, so feed your baby as often as she's interested (don't worry about schedules!) nd then pump afterwords. It takes a couple days. Ive heard great things about fenugreek. Don't hesitate to call a lactation consultant! Hang in there, the first couple weeks are def the hardest, but what you're doing is worth it!

The first 2 weeks are the hardest. Remember u need like 400+ extra calories to breastfeed so eat healthy, nutritious foods and don't give up. .

Definitely will. I read after taking fenugreek for a week that my supply should increase so hopefully by next week.

Thanks ladies. I really hope this helps. I'm a first time mom and I don't wanna lose the connection that breast feeding gives me. Especially since I'm going back to my classes now and have to have my parents watch her for two hours every evening except Fridays.

What I did was after every feeding I would pump for at least 15 minutes or until I filled a bottle...the more your body thinks you need the more it will make...also stay very hydrated...I always had an over abundance of milk

Thanks I just hate the thought that I won't be able to breast feed her. I love doing it even if it does hurt sometimes.  But lately pumping any seems like it takes forever to fill one bottle and over the weekend I was able to fill two in under an hour. I don't know what's wrong.

I'm gonna try fenugreek! I've heard good reviews about it. There's also mother milk tea, and oatmeal.
