Coffee?

i work 12 hour shifts 2:30 till 3am in a warehouse. I am eight months pregnant. Is it bad to have a mocha or frappé? I've had three this pregnancy and I feel so bad about it. Any ladies have a little caffeine here and there?

Also, caffeine is a diuretic, and pregnant women need to stay well hydrated, so if you don't drink extra water to make up for the caffeine, it's easier to get dehydrated.

One is fine!

But moderate/low consumption I don't think has been proven to have negative consequences.

I have heard that over consumption can lead to low birth weight or pre term labor.

My mother drank 5 + cups of coffee daily with me and I turned out just fine.  They say its just not healthy and the baby will have withdrawal symptoms once they r born cause of the lack of caffeine its used to getting when in you. I drink at least one coffee a day and sometimes even a Venti from starbucks.

I'm not going to go over of course but what is the reasoning behind not drinking coffee? I know the caffeine, but what will it do?

So no, it's not bad to have a mocha or frappe as long as it's only one.

A cup of coffee a day OR a couple of caffeinated sodas a day is fine. They recommend keeping consumption under 200mg.
