Cramping and threatening miscarriage

Hello everyone
So I went to the hospital today for some mild to severe cramping but NO BLEEDING. I'm 6wks pregnant with a history of ectopic pregnancy. My hcg level was 31000 but my ultrasound is showing the yolk sac but no fetal pole. The doctor also said he saw blood around the sac which led him to believe I may be having miscarriage. Someone please give me some hope

This situation happened to me at about week five. I was bleeding a little and it was brownish and later on I past a piece of tissue that looked very reddish. I went to the emergency room and they did all kinds of testing. The doctor said it looked like I had a g sac, yolk sac , but no fetal pole was apparrent. He also saw blood outside. So he told me it looked like a had miscarriage but the told me to follow up with my regular doctor and test my hcg. When I did this ever test I took showed an increase and my doc said I was still prego. That the blood may have come from the uterine wall or I may have had a cyst that ruptured. After those I had an ultra sound about a week later. Not much blood came out and it was brown. The ultrasound showed the baby in its sac. I was so thrilled. Now am 17w 5d. All I am saying is it may be too early to see the fetal pole and the dates may be off on when u really conceived. In about a week to two you should see the fetal pole more definitively. Keep hoping and if you believe in Jesus pray without ceasing. All the best.

Thanks Mommyjeep11! That definitely gave me hope. My sac has been measuring 5-6 weeks so I'm trying not to lose hope. I have a follow up appointment in two days so hopefully I will have better news. Again, thank u so much for taking the time to respond

How far was the sac measuring? You may not be as far as you thought if it was measuring small which may be why the sac was there but no fetal pole. Your hcg seems to be within the normal range. I would ask to have it drawn again in a couple days if the dr hasn't already requested it be done. And see if they can get you in for another ultrasound in a week or so. I have had 3 miscarriages so when I started cramping early in my current pregnancy I freaked but it was nothing more than my uterus stretching. Also the blood may be a subchorial hematoma. I had one that showed up around 8 weeks with my current pregnancy as well and it resolved on its own at around 10 weeks. Depending on the location and size of it you may have some bleeding with it but they typically heal around 20 weeks and don't cause any harm. But you should ask your dr if that is what he thinks that may be. I stressed about mine until a friend told me about hers and her daughter is now 1 1/2 and hers was a lot bigger than mine and she actually had some bleeding where I didn't. But mine was pretty small according to my dr. But I was on bed rest til it went away. Good luck and if you have any questions pm me. My drs have always been great about answering any questions I have had and I always have a list of new questions at my checkups :)

Thanks for your response. I dont have any other symptoms besides the off and on cramping. Spotting can be a reason for several things...I would call my doctor to run test and make sure.
