Did anyone get preggo using lubrication other than Pre-seed?

This is all I wanna know. I know that lubricants like Astroglide can affect sperm viability and motility (hehe, i've done my homework!) but I can't find any literature on how MUCH it affects the ability to conceive. I actually do have pre-seed but DH is juuuusssttt not quite there yet. He's okay with not using the PO method (finally!) but to go so far as to intentionally try to HELP his spermies....not quite yet.

SO...just lookin for stories, info, opinion on whether or not I'm likely to get pregnant if we're using lubricants like astroglide. thanks girls(and men!)

I would be afraid to use cooking oil, I would be afraid of infection or bacteria.  As far as lubrication that isn't sperm friendly, well it kills the sperm.  So there may be a few that survive it but it makes things harder.  You only have a 20% chance of conceiving each month so adding a negative factor into that number doesn't help.  If you can, nix the lubricant all together and try to have sex without it.  Good luck.

thanks ladies, for your opinons/stories. Like I said, Dh and I are no longer using the PO method and he's totally okay with it if we do conceive (deep down I think he wants to but is afraid) but he's not ready to use a lubricant that "helps matters." So, although I know other lubricants aren't "sperm friendly" I was wondering if that meant that there's 0 chance of getting pregnant. It seems that way. Good knews is, we don't always use lubricant so perhaps our lil miracle will happen au naturale!! :)

Ok this is going to sound very off the wall but my SIL and her hubby had been trying to get pregnant for years when some told them about oil. Regular old cooking oil. They got pregnant within a few months! I think its crazy but they swear by it.  They have 2 daughters now. I tease them all the time that it took Crisco to get them pregnant, lol! Dont know if thats what did it but they say so....................

I bought some lubricant and it was called conception. I  don't usually have a problem with wettness but we thought we would use it for fun! It said it was safe for trying to conceive couples and I think we bought it at wal mart

I don't believe astroglide or KY is sperm friendly.  I think you should just wait until he's ready.

my husband isn't ready to INTENTIONALLY conceive, although he's getting closer. So I can't offer to use pre-seed b/c he knows what it is. So I was wondering if there was any hope of getting pregnant even though we use astroglide

PreSeed is the ONLY lubricant found to be sperm friendly. The rest affect the sperm in some way.

Sorry the only one I trusted was Pre-Seed. Why is your dh opposed to it?? My hubby and I loved it. It is easy to use and plus it make it so much better!!!!! I got pregnant twice using it!!!!!!!!
