Do I need to go the emergency room?

Hey ladies so I've been having a few issues and I'm not really sure what's normal and what isn't.  I've been trying to brush most of them off [with full intentions of telling my doctor at our next visit]

Here's what's up.

I'm a bigger woman. I'm 5'10 and I weighed 240 pounds the day we found out we were pregnant.

We found out I was pregnant at 4 weeks in the er. [I had some stomach pain that I went in for] I had no symptoms up until middle of week 5.

Middle of week five I started getting nausea.  Not to bad at first.  I bought a bag of mints and sucking on those was enough to help my nausea.  It continually got worse up till week 7 when I finally had a prenatal appointment.  I explained to my doctor that my nauseo and vomiting had gotten pretty bad and I was having a hard time drinking even water. She made some rude comment about my weight and kinda brushed me off. After I again tried to explain how bad it was she prescribed me zofran.

I only take the zofran when I feel really really bad because I personally believe it cause birth defects in some cases. If you disagree that's ok, it's really not the point of this post.

So my nausea kept getting worse.  And the vomiting goy way worse. And I have dihareha everyday. The nausea never fades. It wakes me up at night and bugs me all day. I probably vomit 4 to 5 times a day. Nothing stays down [but I'm constantly trying to drink water and powerade]

Nobody seems to take me seriously when I complain about it.  But I can't imagine it's normal.

Also in the past week I've noticed I get pounding headaches.  They only last an hour or so but they hurt.

My biggest concern however is my difficulty breathing. It started a little bit over 2 weeks ago. At first I started just getting short of breath randomly even while laying in bed. Then no matter what I just started feeling like I wasn't getting enough air. I tried to look it up but I only see info about it in 3rd trimester.  The past 2 days I'm kinda wheezing.  I can hear crackles and stuff in my chest. I'm coughing non stop and I'm full of gross phlegm.

I am going to an emergency room tonight when my husband gets off work at 10th [ less than 7 hours] but is that ok? Should I just go myself now?  I think I need a new obgyn. She doesn't return my calls and the so called 24/7 nurse hot line never gets answered

Thank you for your responses. Yes I am definitely finding a new obgyn. I'm 10 weeks and 2 days along. I and long really concerned with dehydration since everything comes back up. And I am trying with water and gatorade all day it just never stays down. I'm always weak and shaky lately

Also yes I have an anxiety disorder I usually see a therapist for but have not been able to the past month due to scheduling.  I am also off able lol my anxiety meds right now which I'm sure makes me panic worse.

I think everything could wait I'm just concerned about my struggle to breath. It hasn't gotten any worse the last hour but it definitely hasn't gotten better.

To be totally honest, I'm not sure this warrants an emergency room visit.  This is something to see your doctor about.  It's not an emergency when you can wait until night for a ride there.  :>)

It is actually semi common to have this kind of nausea.  It's rough man.  Some handle it better than others but it is just not fun.  I felt like I had a stomach bug for several weeks until I got to week 13 of pregnancy.  Then in my last trimester, I couldn't eat without throwing up due to everything being squished in there.

What I really wonder about from your description is two things.  Dehydration. Which CAN be serious.  make sure that you are taking in fluid. And the best way to hydrate when you are nauseated (remember this when you have a sick toddler too) is to drink two sips (not gulps, sips) every 15 minutes of water or better yet, something like Gatorade.  This helps keep you hydrated. When hydrated, you can get headaches, stomach cramps, fast heart rate, etc.  This could also be related to the breathing issue.

the second issue I worry about is anxiety.  Are you highly anxious?  I know you aren't feeling well, are very worried, etc. and this can cause some issues.  Almost like panic type of feelings like you can't breath.

Now, I don't know if you should go to the ER or not.  But ER's generally are even less accommodating to moms to be and just do some acute care and send you home to follow up with your doctor for the chronic care of the situation (and then you are back to square one).  To me, it sounds like you are not loving your doctor.  I'm not sure how far along you are but if you are in your first trimester, maybe you could switch doctors.  As you get farther along, it gets harder to switch but you probably still could if you have friends who like their doctors who can recommend someone.  ??  Something to consider,

Being able to breath is essential.  And if you do feel like you can't, call 911.

My friend was about your weight and maybe an inch shorter when she was pregnant (and after).  What she found was that she didn't gain much weight with her pregnancy even though she was eating more (that sure is nice, right?) and she had a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.  you shouldn't be losing lots of weight or anything ---  so if your nausea turns into hyperemesis, you'll need additional help in caring for yourself.  Hopefully the nausea will disappear at 13 weeks!!

Good luck to you hon
