I have used probably around 50 of these in the last year during out ttc journey...lol.  I always get mine from Dollar General the brand they sell is "Baby Test"...there are 2 different kinds, a main stream kind (the type you hold under a stream of urine) which are $4.00 each, then there are the $1.00 ones which require you to pea in a cup and use the provided dropper to place 4 drops in the well on the test.  While mine have always had a test in the box all the boxes are always partly or completly open on one side, but they are always kept behind the counter so the have not be tampered with.  You must ask for them at the register here in augusta anyways.  However i have had maybe one test out of all of them that was a flop where no control line showed up or anything.  They are very sensitive and will register hcg a 20 or 25 which is comparable to the more expensive tests.  I had a habit of testing daily so at one dollar each I could afford to.  They can have some small evap lines but if you are trying to determine if it is an evap line or a faint positive you should get a darker line in the next few days if it is a true positive.  These are the tests I used when we found out we were pregnant.  The first few I took were very early on like 7 days past ovulation and ofcourse nothing showed up, then at about 8 dpo i thought I could see a very very faint line but it was so light I thought it was in my head, days 9 and 10 were about the same and then at 11dpo I got a very light faint positive but it was dark enough I had the courage to call and ask for a blood test...sure enough I was pregnant.  My hcg level was only 20.5 on the blood test and the dollar store test picked it up.  Okay thats all my knowledge of the dollar tests....lol.  Hope this helps!

I took 3 separate home preg tests  All within 3 days of each other.   All came back faintly positive   The dollar store test was the last one I took and it was positive as well.  So, as far as I know they are accurate.  At least it was for me.  Can't wait  to meet my little girl on Monday,

ive been using the dollar store brand for awhile now and so far they seem to work, but you might want to shake the box because i bought 4 at a time once and one of the boxes were empty i was soo mad because i needed that test lol at least tho it was only a dollar but still lol
