i was just wonder for first time mothers... im scared to have a normal birth.. so i thought just having a CS... idk.. wat would you pick?

ALL NATURAL!! lol because then its longer time to be careful. And worry to see if it doesnt open up. When you can give birth and tear a little and by the time your 40days is up you be ready for some loving and playin with your baby.

I am definitely going to go normal, as long as there is no complications and a C-Section is absolutely necessary.  Our bodies are made for this, not to be cut open.  Healing will take so much longer with a CS and I really don't think it is worth it at all.

ps.  I did have a catheter...  But I was up and moving around a few hours later (the nurses were kinda shocked).

I had a LOT of sciatic nerve pain prior to delivery.    I also had extreme swelling and had been on bed rest for the last few weeks, so I was anxious to get up.  My c-section went REALLY well.  My baby was beautiful & healthy.  She didn't have problems with fluid in her lungs.  
My scar looks fantastic.  very unnoticable.  I don't know yet about vbac...  I'm unsure of my risks.  Either way I'm scared to do it again.  

I don't think the doctor will perform a c-section unless it is necessary.  I don't think that is part of your choice, unless you have already had one.

I had a c-section.  I was in my room for 3 hours without my newborn.  (didn't realize it cause I was sleeping)  

I'm undecided what I will choose this time around.  I'm really scared & not exactly sure what my risks are yet....

I had a normal birth and my sister had a csection. All i can say is that i was able to get up and move around right away, could go to the washroom myself, take a shower right after. My sister was stuck in bed in the hospital for 4 days and had to have a catheter.

A c section is also major surgery and I did tear down there but i healed so quickly and barely had any pain.

I am so for normal delivery but ultimately it is up to you.

Wow ive never heard of doctors agreeing to do a tummy tuck at same time,wonder why women havent done it,like you say can save a fortune :)

This may sound strange, but I picked C-Section... before I was pregnant i was thinking of having a tummy tuck, I decided to wait because I wanted to have kids and why waste the money. Ive had a few friends that had a CS and the Dr. also gave them a tummy tuck at the same time(same incision line)... I dont know. Any input from others??

For my first 17 years ago,I had a vaginal birth.but with epidural.so wasnt so bad.it is scarey,when its your first,especially when people say.oh the pain.but hun,honestly at the time you just want to meet your little one,and its all worth it.
I did however this time go natural,nothing at all, 14 hours of labour,had the gas,but hubby was useless with it.kept asking him to give it to me,well shouting at him :) but the nozzle kept coming off oh my.by the end was begging for drugs.but so worth it.you dont want a c section if you can help it.leaves a scar,although they are not as bad as they used to be.do what you feel is best for you.you will soon forget it,when you are holding your precious little one.

I would and went with a vaginal as well. Both are going to be painful, there is no escaping that. It's to a degree of pain that you would want. A c-section, especially an unneeded one has longer recovery, an incision wound that can become infected or come open again, and a fight for a vaginal delivery with future pregnancies if you wanted it. Nothing says yours will be terrible either, nor that it has to be natural. You can have medications to relieve or dull the pain. As my l&d nurse said, there's no awards for going painfree. Just a self accomplishment. Do what is comfortable for you, but remember there will be pain no matter what route you choose.

You say your scared of pain yet a C/S in my opinion will hurt WAY more afterward then natural birth ever will be. Also recovery takes SO much longer as everyone as pointed out, and you don't get to hold your child right away, breastfeed right away, or get the benefits of the natural occurring bodily hormones during and after labor etc etc.

I'm a first time mom, and had a natural birth and it was the most beautiful, empowering experience of my life and I would LOVE to do it over again. Granted I had a fairly short labor (only 4 hours) but it was beautiful, and essentially pain free. Pain to me is when something is wrong with your body, and there is nothing wrong with labor, it is a natural experience, and something our bodies have been designed to do.
A wonderful book on the subject is "Painless Childbirth" by Giudetta Tornetta, It was absolutely awe-inspiring and I believe was the key to helping me achieve such a beautiful birthing experience!

Normal any day! But its the other way round here in my country...
Hospitals make much more money if they do a C/S, and so they tell the family that the mom or the baby is in danger and get a surgery done instead. Natural labour charges are lesser, and more time consuming for them :(
So, I am on the hunt to find a doctor or a hospital where they are encouraging natural labour... i don't care if they charge me like crazy as well..

Given a choice.. I would always go in for vaginal delivery as you heal faster and you lose the belly fat much easier as well.

jane i think this is a great question to ask. im 5 months pregnant and im not enjoying my pregnancy because im just counting down the days because im so scared of the day of labor! but reading other girls comments make me feel a lot better. i don't know what to expect other than a lot of Pain! i pray and leave it in gods hands!

A c/s is far more dangerous and inhibits the bonding process.  I have had a c/section and 5 vaginal births and I would take a vaginal birth with no drugs over a c-section any day.

Your welcome... sometimes talking helps a lot! Dont be scared.... I thought of it this way... Women have been doing it for AGES and naturally. If they could do it, then i can too! =)

:) Let me put it this way its like having surgery anywhere else on your body being cut open, and then having to deal with a baby..... a newborn who wants to eat a few times inan hr and will wake you up about every two hrs.

Or it can feel like just having your period.... nurse gave me witch hazel topical to apply on your pad, it helped A lot!! I didnt feel pain at all after using that.....

It's completely normal to be scared of the idea of passing a watermelon size human out of your girly parts.

But like everyone has said... normal vaginal birth is preferred over surgery.

I think it's natural for anyone to be nervous/anxious/scared when it's their first time. I was even with a scheduled c-section. I hope you do have a natural birth...I'm jealous of those who have, and if I end up not being able to I'll be upset. I'd love to feel that accomplishment.

Let me put it this way EITHER WAY there is no way "out" of pain. I gave birth naturally. I had epidural, you dont feel a thing, and recovery is so quick, within the next two days i felt like my normal self. Doing normal things. I doubt your ob will "let you" have a Csection if its not Medically required.

PLUS during recovery i didnt take one single painkiller. NOT ONE. I cant imagine how much pain i wouldve been in from surgery. Not thanks I think id rather go natural without painkillers then have a Csec. Its what nature intended.

i heard giving birth Normal is the most best thing a mom could ever feel... & for the first time dads..the scary thing is the labor & birth.... but i think id go with the normal..i wanna hold my baby when hes born for the first time :)

Heck yes it hurts like H e l l!!!!!!!!!!!  But trust me its soo soo worth it.. ask your sister.. and like someone said, u dont get to decide what to have. unless theres something wrong, u will give birth vaginally

I just want to add my two cents here. I still consider myself a first time mom, even though my son is two and I'm 33 weeks 5 days pregnant with number two...

I had to have a c-section with my first because he was breech. The took him at 38 weeks 5 days. When he came out he was breathing too fast and had fluid in his lungs from not being squeezed out the birth canal. He was taken to the nursery, I had him at 1022 am and could not see him until after 7 pm. My first picture of my baby boy is of him with his arms tucked into a blanket so he couldn't move them, tubes all over the place from his iv, monitors and oxygen...I didn't get to hold him until after 1 am.

I wasn't allowed to eat solids for the first 24 hours, was in pain, and physically drained. After you have a c-section you feel like you've ran 50 miles. It takes a long time to heal, and it hurts to cough, laugh, sneeze, you're pulling your abdominal muscles every time.

I'm extremely nervous about having a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarian) and going through the pain of labor and delivery (I'm choosing not to have an epidural because I had a spinal headache and it took six tries to get it in with my c-section.) SO I'm just like some of you moms for the very first time in a sense, because I've never had a vaginal delivery. Believe me, it's scary, and I'm nervous, BUT what scares me more is having another c-section. If you NEED it that's one thing, but for baby and your sake, don't get it just because it might SEEM less scary.
