Heartburn/Indigestion, bad!

I have had heartburn constant for the past 3-4 days straight, from the time I wake up til when I go to bed, just worse when I eat. I can drink water and get it! I'm really weird about taking any medicine unless it's reallllly needed, but I'm starting to think it might be! Any natural remedies first? And if that doesn't work, safe OTC products to relieve it once in a while? And don't get me wrong, I'm NOT complaining, it's almost the only symptom I have, but it's starting to make me not want to eat because I know it's going to hurt after!

Ive read Baking soda is high in sodium and can cause water retention in pregnancy eg swollen feet and fingers so I wouldn't recommend. I used to take gaviscon cool.heartburn tablets and they worked great. My doc Said they were safe to take x
