How long after your baby dropped did you go into labor?

Well, I'm POSITIVE he's dropped. See, I'm peeing a TON more than usual. My stomach is lower, I can eat more, AND he got the hiccups this morning and I actually felt them VERY low in my belly and in my butt! lol.

So now I'm wondering... How long do I have?
Will I make it to my Csection date at 38w4d?
Currently I'm 34w1d. :)  My only worry would be that I go into labor unexpectedly and have to rush to the hospital for an emergency csection.. The hospital is about 45-60min away, depending on traffic. I haven't lost my plug yet, and I've definitely been keeping an eye out for it.

But I swear it seems as each day goes by I get more pressure, more pain, and more peeing! It's driving me crazy! I did pack my diaper bag today for the hospital so it's there, and over this next week I'm going to pack MY bag for the hospital.. I'd rather have it ready with plenty of time than not have anything done!

It really depends on if this is your first or second baby.  During my first  pregnancy, labor began 2.5 weeks after my tummy dropped.  Second baby, labor began five days later.  Talk to your doctor about your concerns, and best wishes for a soon, quick, and painless delivery!

You do get that burst of energy right before you go in...when i was preg with my 1st i was cleaning and getting stuff ready and was always on my feet and i went in 5 days after and was already dialated to a 4 (but still had to hve emergency csection) but it was worth it...with my 2nd preg (a boy) i was 34w6d and i was on my hands and knees scrubbing the floor "literally", my house was spic n span and that next morning at 35 weeks at 7am, my contractions started and i had my little man at 11:33 so ya that burst is crazy but a true thing!!
Good luck to everyone, i am now in my 4th child, 3rd girl and am 38w1d and am very miserable but since this is my 4th csec i cant do anything to try and induce myself...can i?? Ive never been this far along and im not just uncomfortable, it hurts...any suggestions on how to make her come faster???

You know ... they have a tradition in old south america where at the birthing house there is a hole in the ceiling right over the birthing bed and the father sits up on the roof over the hole with a rope tied around his..almonds? This sounds about right every time I have to get up in the middle of the night and he says... look at the little turtle! I am trying my darndest to roll off the side of the bed all rotund with his son and he is gonna pick on me??? uh! not fairsies! I am just 31 weeks and have dropped, saw dr today, no signs of preterm, little wittle bit of clear mucus coming out... I don't think i've even had braxtons... But it's my first so i'm no expert..:) I asked the doc about how it seems the belly is lower, i can breathe and eat more than a handful with out feeling glutted and he said it has to do with the uterine support system, and that it is a good sign because the baby will take longer to drop in a breech position must be head first to drop early. I know you're planning on a c-section but head down at 31wks makes me feel better, i;ve been so worried about him being a footsie or breech! The doc I saw today seemed to think it was fine, and that the body is preparing and he is beloved in this area. I just had to switch because of a bad situation with a doc fresh out of med school who was testing me to death! Watch for that plug and count them contracts if they come. I'll keep ya in my thoughts for 37wks as the date!

I totally agree with losingmymindinGA, each pregnancy is different. With that said at 37 weeks with my son, the dropping thing never applied to me as I was waiting for my son to move down while I was in labor and man was that painful. He moved on his own thank goodness and was born within 5 pushes and that was my first. Now with my daughter she dropped at 34 weeks and I went into preterm labor with her that night stopped thank goodness and she was born at 37 wks 4 days. So everyone is different, but I too have the fear of when I do get pregnant with #3 that I will go into premature labor again. GOOD LUCK and I hope you all have a safe and healthy delivery Hugs :o)

The whole energy thing isn't necessarily true.  I've had 3 or 4 "spurts" of energy where I felt I HAD To get his or that done...That's been over the last several weeks or so and here I am...due TOMORROW and so far NOTHING.  The baby HAS dropped...within the last month but nothing.  I've had a few contractions sporadically and a tiny bit of mucus.  As of last wednesday I had not made ANY progress...no dialation or ANYTHING which everyone has found unusual since this is my FIFTH full term pregnancy.  I find out this morning if I've done anything in the last 4-5 days.  IF not doc is probably gonna talk about induction.

I guess my point is that there is really no clear cut indicator of when you will go into labor.  Every pregnancy is different.  Good luck and I hope you make it to the date you're hoping for.

holspowell~ Don't worry about me hopeing for early labor, HONEST. my goal is to make it to at LEAST 37w or so, because this little guy has Plenty of bake time left!, but Ideally to my csection date. I just don't want what happened to my mom to happen to me unexpectedly.

We were at ChuckECheese for a friends bday party and her water just broke.. it looked like she was peeing everywhere!  I was 6 at the time but remember it clearly. She had never actually been allowed to go into labor with her other pregnancies other than me. (she was in labor 6w and finally had me 6w early via csection after my heart rate crashed and actually stopped 2x.)

Ladies, thank you for your responses, I TRULY appreciate it! and Joy~ It HAS Gone quickly!! I was just thinking that technically I really have only about 3w6d left! AHHHH. :)

I've also heard that when you begin to feel like you've got tons of energy to spare that it's usually a sign you'll go soon.
Is that true in your experiences?

And I'm not having any extra energy at this point... lol, I sleep til about 12pm or so when I can!! (I go to bed around 12-2am) However TJ I think went thru a growth spurt. He was quiet for about 3 days and now has been moving nonstop since yesterday.. I can actually feel his butt now and it's definitely lower than it had been. It used to be up around my rib area. now it's about 2inches below that! I can pat him on the butt!

Oh a good note, his daddy got to feel him shoving his knees around in there. He still can't believe that TJ is so strong!

Hi there - I dropped quite early at about 33 weeks also and I still havent gone into labour. Im 39 weeks. I too have a drive of about an hour to the hospital (its a bit of a worry having a big drive isnt it!)
I havent lost my plug yet but I have been sooo uncomfortable and restless. I dont think Ive slept in 2/3weeks! Must be close now though surely.... lol... I almost feel selfish being so ready...
Congrats and welcome to the end of the line!

Lorri :-)

It was like a month or so before I went into labor. Dropping won't have any change on whether you go into labor or not and you're still early! Wow, I can't believe you're almost to the end!!! HOW EXCITING!
