Hydrocodone & pregnancy

I'm almost 29 weeks pregnant & have been taking hydros thru out the whole pregnancy but no more than 2 a day! I haven't told my doctor cause I'm scared of losing my son! But I plan on stopping next week & I was just wondering on what Texas laws were on drug testing newborn babies & how they do it! The doctors say my son is very healthy by the way so no rude comments! I just need to know how they drug test them & will they still be in his system if I quit by 30 weeks!

Honestly yer chances of them taking him if yu tell them are slim because it shows that yu are trying to get better

I work at bsc (drg testing facility in nd) hydros can take 2-3 weeks to leave your system but 4-6 months to leave a fetus. Telling your doctor now is the best. Theres a good chance your baby may already be addicted.

YOUR BABY WILL GO THREW WITHDRAWS BC YOU ARE SO FAR ALONG, ITS SO IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO TELL YOUR DOCTOR SO THEY CAN TAPER YOU AND YOU NOT DO IT ON YOUR ON, WHEN YOU HAVE THE BABY THEY CAN GIVE HIM MEDICATION TO HELP WITH THE WITHDRAWLS, CALL YOUR DOC ASAP DONT SELF TAPER ITS VERY DANERGOUS

At least with yer doctor knowing they can keep close watch on the baby which I really think.is best this far on in pregnancy...
I know yu are probly terrified but by not telling the doctor yu are putting yer baby at risk. Please let yer doctor know so he or she can decide how to handle it safely

Thank all y'all! Im really scared to tell my doctor! But I will start takin one a day! & slowly start taking half a day to where I'm down to non! I feel so ****** about this I have done nothin but cry for the past 2 weeks! If you stop now you can go into labor which will not be good, whether you continue your baby will go through withdrawls. You need to be honest with your doctor, he/she is here to help.

They test with the prick on their foot like I mentioned. Because they really don't know when a baby has their first bowel movement, so it's not as reliable. I read online (again, not 100%, and definitely not sure) it can take up to a week for it to leave your system, so it should be no more than 2 leaving the babies. But you'd have to cut back extremely slowly in order to not hurt the baby. You CAN'T cut back all at once, it really should be doctor supervised.

It didn't say how they tested them? & it didnt say how long hydrocodone stays In their system! That's what I really need to know! Please & thank you for helping so much! & yes I am done!

I looked it up online, and what I gathered was that Texas laws do allow for infants to be tested, I'm not sure if it's random or what, but it says that if you're on state insurance it's automatic. It also says that they do NOT take the baby away from the mother, or charge the mother if she tests positive, they point her on the right path, whether that's an outpatient rehab, etc, because it's not beneficial for anyone for the baby to be taken away. Again, that is internet sources, and not anything 100% factual, I'm really not sure how you'd find out without giving yourself away, and I have no idea how long it stays in their system.

I'm on a prescribed pill that is close to that and ur best bet since you r quiting is to just tell ur doc you used to have a problem and now u are dealing with it. It gives u a good standing. And soon as u test clean u will not have to worry. And till then Google it. Wish you the best.

How can I find out what Texas does to test newborns? & how long it stays in their system?!

They can test the baby's feces (if it has one of it's first bowel movement in their privacy, of course) or a blood test, which can just be done when they poke the newborns foot to test iron levels, etc. They can also test your urine at doctors visits, or your blood results with any lab work they may do. I have no idea how long it takes to get out of your system, honestly.

Yes, they can do drug tests and they don't need your consent. You need to be honest with your doctor, if they find any in your system and you weren't honest, you're definitely less likely to be taken seriously. At this stage, your baby will need to be watched as you're weened off from them because he/she may be addicted to it as well. I'm sure you know your baby's health is the most important and I'd hate to see anything happen to him/her, so definitely tell your doctor, they're usually more understanding than you'd think!

I hope their prescribed but things last a lot longer in their system sense they can't poop or anything. my friend smoked weed through her half her pregnancy and I'd be really surprised if she got to take the baby home i haven't heard from them sense they had it. i smoked a week or two before my missed period weed that is but after that positive pregnancy test i haven't done one thing and I'm still not sure that the baby wouldn't be born with weed in its system.
