But does that mean I do have diabetes? Could it have Been a mistake? I go back in two weeks to take the three hour test.

Most fail the first test then pass the 3 hr. I failed it. I have gestational diabetes it will go away after pregnancy. All you have to do is check your blood sugar 4 times a day. My blood sugar is always fine except in the morning when I wake up and if I eat cereal. You'll have to watch your carbs. Its not that big of a deal as long as you keep it in order.

At my hospital they make us do one before 12 weeks then a second at 28 weeks ti be sure that they catch it early. It really wasn't bad but i wasn't fond of the taste. Afterwards, i puked my guts out from morning sickness.

@letxia, they should have given you a drink that you have to drink, and an hour later they draw your blood. The results will be given to you after your blood is processed in the lab. I think mine was back the next day. They'll tell you how long to fast for and everything before you drink the drink. Ask your doctor for exact instructions.

I failed the 1hr and passed the 3 hr ! Dont worry until you take the 3 hr i worried myself sick turned out i was fine

No. If you fail the 3 hr test then you have it. A lot of people fail the first test and pass the 3 hr test.

Just don't be concerned just yet(:
Make sure you bring something to do and also I'd suggest a couple crackers or something for AFTER the test is complete. I got real shaky afterwards kinda sneaks up on you.

When I took my glucose test I failed the first time I drank a couple sips of pop before taking it .  I failed had to go back for the 3 hour test it's broke down into 4 tests I can't remember the numbers but what ***** is the waiting. My words of advice only drink water when you get up in the morning before the test. Just because you failed the first one doesn't mean you'll fail the 3 hour one. I passed all 4 parts with flying colors and my mom had GD with all her kids.

My dr just goes straight to the 3hr test at 28wks as he believes the 1hr one isn't always accurate. Fingers crossed this is the case for you!

What exactly do they do when you take the glucose test?   I think I have mine next week
