IUD and Pregnacy

Hello,

Ok, here goes, I have had an IUD placed in 5 months ago.  Every month since my menstruation has come however this month (April) is has not come.  According to my calculation it's 12 days late.  What's trouble me is I am having the craving of pregnancy and fatigue.  I have a 4 year old.  So I am much in tuned with my body.  My period always comes except when I am pregnant.  I am a married women whom enagages in sex with my husband at least 5 days out of the week.  I took two pregnancies tests and the first was invalid and the other said no.  Is is a possibility that I could be pregnant?

so you can't feel the strings at all? it is possible it came out of place and fell out. you should call your ob/gyn and tell him/her that you can no longer feel the iud and make an appointment. they could do a blood test to check your hcg levels and to make sure the iud is still in place.

Thank You, I never thought to check it until friday night.  I felt it then however I am not able to feel it now.  I was reading up on the type of IUD I have and i contains no hormone.  My body has a bad reaction to the medicine contain in birth control medicines.

it's possible yes no birth control is 100%. but i know with the mirena at least between months 4-12 your periods can go away completely. at least that's what my ob said and that's what's happening to me. after i had my twins i got the mirena iud. my periods went from the normal 5-7 days to 4-6 after a few months and now they're 1-3 days long. one day of heavy flow and 2 days of spotting. so you could be one of the lucky ones whose periods just go away completely. if you're worried make an apt. with your ob/gyn and s/he can do a blood test to get a more accurate result then an hpt.

also do you check your iud to make sure it's still in place? my ob told me to check the strings at least once a week to make sure the iud is still in place. i check every other day though. can never be to careful.
